Recording Circle of Magic with Full Cast Audio ("Personal Sketches" - bio page 7-04) I was born in South Connellsville, Fayette County , Pennsylvania, on December 13, 1954, which makes me a Sagittarius, if you believe in such things. For those who look to eastern tradition, I was born in the Year of the Horse. My mother wanted to name me "Tamara," but the nurse who filled out my birth certificate had never heard of such a fancy name (we are talking Pennsylvania coal country in the 1950s), so she misspelled it, and I legitimately became Tamora (pronounced like "camera"). I actually like it better than Tamara, which means "graceful" and "a palm tree," and is the name of a Russian saint. I am none of these things. I was my parents' first child, born into a long, proud line of hillbillies on my dad's side of the family (the Pierces and the Prices, the best people on earth), and a family which was ashamed of its hillbilly roots and told my mother she married beneath her. (They know who they are.) I was five when my sister Kimberly came along (the one I based on Alanna), and six when Melanie was born. My dad worked for the telephone company while my mother did something pretty unusual for that time and place: she went to college for her degree in English, intending to become a teacher. I remember it thusly: when my mother was in school, the babysitter let me watch "Robin Hood" before I went to schoolmy sisters got to watch the second half of "Captain Kangaroo" after I left; if my mother was home, my sisters got to watch

I've known women who have had one, two, and three, for every reason you can think of. Some are guilty. Some regret, but would have made the same decision. Some just say, "Hell, yeah, and I'd do it again!" I remember that trapped, breathless feeling I had, thinking of all of my cousins who "had to get married," and I thank the Supreme Court of that time for our right to choose. Don't let us get slack, folks. Don't let us lose this. You may never need it, but what if you doand what if it's not there? What if you have too many kids or just enough right now? What if you're raped; what if you can barely support yourself; what if you took or were given the wrong drug; what if you carry a deadly gene? (Mine is Huntingdon's Corhea, with a 50/50 chance of being passed on to a carrier's kids if the carrier has it, and the carrier may not know until long after s/he's had kids.) What if you're ill and a pregnancy puts your life at risk? What if some other poor soul has one or more of these issues and needs help? What if she needs to know she isn't trapped? What is fair to her, and to that unborn child? Isn't it better to have a child born when it's wanted, when it will be healthy, when it can be cared for?

I'm going to go with a bracelet in the torc style, since folk of that time are familiar with torcsa cuff to them is a wide, flat wrist wrap, and a bangle is anything that jingles, pretty much.
