Looking for any information, but specifically children [if any], of James
L. LOWRY and Nancy Jane McCOY, married in Greene County 1/26/1846.
And, if possible, any dob and dod on James L. LOWRY.
My ggrandfather, William Henry LOWRY [b. 12/15/1846 d. 10/3/1924], was
raised by the Robert McCOY family in Blount County, but didn't know his
parentage. This William Lowry was NOT the Clerk of Court, btw. One of the children of Robert McCoy and Marjorie Unknown was named Nancy [b. 1803], but don't know if this is the same person that married James L. LOWRY. WHL is my dead end, and I would really like to try and find his parentage and possibly why he was raised by the children of Robert and Marjorie McCOY. It has been suggested that his parents might be Charles LOWERY and Mary KERBOUGH, but I can find nothing to substantiate that, such as names of the children of Charles and Mary.

After a Desperado
Thirty Men in Pursuit of Frank Phillips
Welch, WV, June 21 – Thirty men, all armed with Winchester rifles, passed through here yesterday morning, bound for Buchanan County, VA, where they will attempt to arrest the desperado Frank Phillips.
Trouble of the most serious nature is expected, for Phillips is in the wilds of Buchanan County, backed by at least one hundred desperate men who are fighting for their homes.
The order for Phillips’ arrest has been issued by the United States district court of Virginia on the charge of violating an injunction in the case of Henry C. King against citizens in Buchanan County, VA, Pike County, KY, and McDowell and Mingo Counties, WV. It is sought to recover 500,000 acres of land from farmers and others.
Phillips’ fame as a desperado extends throughout the Kentucky mountains, where he took leading part in the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud.
