Troika Ranch Demonstration Video
Yesterday afternoon at the " Who's in Control? " event at the Eyebeam center in Manhattan, Mark Coniglio and Dawn Stoppiello of Troika Ranch described and demonstrated an inexpensive and effective system for staging interactive dance performances. I've included below a link to a video clip that shows the entire demonstration - Thanks to Mark and Dawn for allowing me to post this video clip to my blog. Click here to watch the video now in Windows Media Format . And you'll want to read the below details to learn more. What Mark and Dawn demonstrated was a motion tracking system that enables the movements of a dancer to generate, in real time, images, graphics and sounds that are projected on a screen right behind the dancer. What's intriguing is that to stage this type of performance, you just need a video camera, infra-red lights, a Mac and two software programs: 1) Isadora from Troika Tronix to design this interactive performance, and 2) EyesWeb , a motion tracking software program.

The stillness of burning hair, the half-won kiss Have saddened you, and now I hear you saying: "We two shall never lie embalmed as one Beneath the eternal sand and palm trees playing." Yet in your warm golden hair, downward flowing, I find Nirvana and leave you unknowing, And drown unfaltering my soul, my bane; And taste your darkened lashes smudged with tears And drugging the heart you pierced with joy and pain, Take on the hardness of these azure spheres. The Poem
The Afternoon of a Faun is St©phane Mallarm©â€™s most well-known poem. In slightly more than a hundred lines, it presents the dreamlike erotic reveries of a faun—a mythical creature of classical legend that, like the satyr, has a combination of animal features (such as horns and goatlike feet) and human features. The poem opens with the faun becoming excited by two nymphs; he is disoriented, however, having just awakened. Finding himself alone, he realizes that the nymphs must have existed only in his dream. “Let me reflect,” he muses. He... [The entire page is 1917 words long]
