About 6000 Alumni, including classmates, teachers and staff attended St. Mary's High School from the year it opened in 1955 to the year it became J.H. Picard at the end of 1984. As of May, 2007, I have found about 2000 of them. My goal is to find the other 4000 that are still missing and can use your help. If you know where I can find anyone, please contact me or have them contact me. Address and phone would be nice. E-mail would be appreciated. They are all kept private and confidential.

NEW YORK BY DIANA LEMIEUX
"Her intuitive artistic ability lies in the fact that she can deftly and boldly explore the unsettling realism of the human condition, yet at the same time, see the beauty and joy inside of every person, every sunset, every moment - an enlightening window to the world and its representations.
Her vision is a gift she had chosen to share with us - the viewer, moving us so profoundly because of it."
"Her strength, is her ability to capture the "essence" of a person in a photograph, and cause the viewer to want to step into the frame and get to know more about the individual, or situation in which she captured them. This photographer is a treasure to be found"

This could very well be your "Strongest Statements"! "in the end, it doesn't even matter" But it most certainly will! One could write many a story behind the essence of this capture. It will most certainly be bought by one of the larger Photo Banks... Given greater exposure!

BCP DRAFT LIT 85 First Grade - Literature - Overview - March
Animals are definitely the topic for this month in Language Arts and Science. Be sure to take time to see how the lessons can be fit together to make a more complete study. Home and habitat together make a thread that winds through the sayings, poems and stories to connect them to the science. You may wish to tell the students that animals are the focus for the month. Tell them that they will learn factual things about animals, but they will also have some fun with some stories that are written about animals whose behaviors seem very human. Provide as many books about animals as possible for the students to read. Take some time to discuss the classifications of fiction and non-fiction. Encourage the students to consider in which area a book belongs whenever they are reading. Help them to see that some books contain elements of both.
Introduce the saying "there's no place like home" after you have completed the lesson on The Tale of Peter Rabbit . You will also wish to connect this lesson to the habitat Science Lessons 32-35.
Note that a performance task complements Lesson 15 - The Frog. Be sure to follow the sequence of that lesson in order to prepare your students for the performance task.

Pelham girl dies in crash – Michelle Lemieux will be remembered for her spirit and smile
BY DARRELL HALEN
Michelle died as the result of a two-vehicle collision on Saturday, March 10, one week before her 17th birthday. The 1987 Pontiac GrandAm that Michelle was driving as it pulled out onto Mammoth Road from Mont Vernon
Drive collided with a Ford 350 pickup truck traveling north on Mammoth Road.
The accident occurred around 9:50 p.m.
Michelle, who had been traveling alone, was trapped and unconscious when rescue workers arrived. They used the Jaws of Life to extricate her from the car.
She was transported to Lowell General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Posters memorializing their friend were placed at the entrance of the school. Four counselors were available for the teenagers.
She would want you to remember her joy and her laughter and best days, he said.
Guillemette encouraged the students to thank the local rescue workers who protect them and keep them safe, and to tell their loved ones at home that they love them.

outer choices and also the "inner architecture" that evolves as we
live and learn. It suggests the many questions we have about life, especially as a teenager. A boy juggles stars in the upper-right corner.
Ms. Lemieux has illustrated many books in a variety of mediums. She both illustrated and wrote Stormy Night , which has been translated into fourteen languages, won the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi Award, and was made into an animated film that won the Crystal Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival.
When she was a child, Ms. Lemieux loved to write stories and draw pictures for them. She would make up little booklets that she would give away as Christmas presents. Her mother was an artist and always encouraged her. But she remembers one class assignment in which students had to write about what they wanted to do when they got older. While all the other girls had traditional goals like getting married or becoming a nurse, she felt embarrassed and strange that she was the only one who said that she wanted to write and illustrate.
As an adult, two of her favorite artists are Picasso and Saul Steinberg. She knows a lot of people who have no goals and complain about their life. She lives by a quote from Seneca, "If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable."

Traditional Literature
Types Databases Journals Links ... Resources Stories passed down through oral storytelling, and from generation to generation fall under the broad term traditional literature. Over time and through many tellers, these stories altered, drawing upon each new generation's truth to become the stories we are familiar with today. Rich in tradition and richer in language, traditional literature connects the future to the past.
The Brothers Grimm were the first to systematically collect and record tales of the common people. Within traditional literature there are several categories: fables, folktales, myths, and legends; within the categories are types. Traditional literature is one of the most popular genres in picture books. Kathleen T. Horning cites many reasons for this: 1) The action, patterned language, and simple themes threaded through the tales make them appealing to children, 2) the emphasis in library programming on storytelling, and 3) the demand for multicultural literature. In the early 1990s multicultural fairy tales were abundant, filling a need for diversity in children's literature.
In the last decade parodies, or fractured tales, have become very popularno piece of traditional literature is safe from the machinations of a warped and creative mind. Beginning with

Michèle Lemieux
Canada Guest of ilb 2004 “This book is like a dialogue, an open door between our childhood world and the world of adults. I wanted to let the world be seen through the eyes of this young girl who wonders about a very simple experience: existence!” This is what Michèle Lemieux has to say about her picture book 'Gewitternacht' (Engl: Stormy Night, 1999), which was published in Germany in 1996. The Canadian illustrator, author, lecturer and director was born in Québec. After completing a degree in visual arts in Montreal, she lived in Germany for five years at the end of the 1970’s. Since 1978 she has published fifteen books, which she both illustrated and wrote. They have been translated, filmed and put on stage in more than twenty languages. In 'Gewitternacht', Michèle Lemieux tells the story of a little girl who is unable to fall asleep during a stormy night and whose head is swarming with all kinds of thoughts: where does infinity end? Is there life on other stars? Do I exist only once in the world? Who is responsible for coincidence? And does dying hurt? In a silent dialogue with her dog Fido, she searches for answers to all her questions and ideas. The author’s black and white ink drawings accompany the little girl’s thoughts about being beautiful, being heroic and being scared. In 1997 Lemieux received the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi Award for 'Gewitternacht'. This thoughtful picture book has been translated into more than ten languages, and the fourth edition has already been published in Germany. Lemieux’s cinematic adaptation 'Nuit d’orage' premiered in 2003 and was screened at the Children’s Film Festival of the 54
