At the age of 2, he was pronounced dead of lung congestion, but recovered. At 8 he wrote his first story. He attended the Regent Street Polytechnic, but left before completing school.
Jews Without Jehovah , about a Jewish family in London. The book was withdrawn after relatives filed libel suits. More successful was his book about lowlife ponce Harry Fabian: Night And The City (1938). Harry Fabian is a small-time Soho gangster who eventually turns white slave trader. In WWII Kersh joined the Coldstream Guards, but was invalided out with an injury in 1941. He returned to the front in 1945 as a journalist and succeeded in tracing some members of his family. Later he wrote about Belsen, and made his first visit to the USA, where he was abled to sell some articles. He eventually emigrated there after a brief period of residence in Barbados. Meanwhile, he wrote comedies for the BBC and scripts for the Army Film Unit. Under the name Piers England he wrote leaders for

Lorelei King
Actor Lorelei King She was voted Female Performer of the Year at the Spoken Word Awards 2001 She was voted Gold in the Spoken Word Awards 2005.
Information Note No 1
Lorelei King was born in Pennsylvania. Once described as 'the best-known American voice on Radio 4', she has played roles as varied as Patricia Cornwell's forensic detective Kay Scarpetta and Groucho Marx's sidekick. Film work includes The Saint and Notting Hill; on television she is a running character (Natalie Lawrence) in the acclaimed Cold Feet, and she has appeared in Jonathan Creek, Chef, The Comic Strip, Birds of a Feather and Rumpole of the Bailey. On stage she has acted in such classics as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Blues for Mr Charlie and Death of a Salesman
Information Note No 2
If you hear a female American voice in a radio play or reading a book, there's a strong possibility it will be Lorelei King. As one of the stars of the hit ITV series Cold Feet, it comes as no surprise that Natalie is her favourite TV role. 'I love Mike Bullen's writing, and the situations he's put my character in - like the fire-extinguisher cat fight with Faye Resnick . . . what a blast!' On the film front she enjoyed playing Mrs Hatch in Edith Wharton's House of Mirth. 'She was rich, vain and flighty - and it was the first time I've worked in a corset!' Her favourite stage role is pop icon Nico in All Tomorrow's Parties. 'I absolutely fell in love with the character,' she explained, 'and it's the only time I've played a person who had actually lived. As it's so liberating to work in a foreign accent, the fact that she was German made her extra fun to play!'
