Welcome
I am a board certified (USC) dermatologist who has served Ventura County since 1988. My solo private practice encompasses all aspects of dermatology, so I am well suited to provide medical, surgical, and cosmetic services. The medical aspect includes rashes, growths, acne, and skin cancer detection. The surgical aspect primarily involves removal of skin cancers, as well as, any type of benign (harmless) growth. The cosmetic aspect includes Botox and filler substances such as Restylane and Radiesse, and treatments such as sclerotherapy for leg veins. I have multiple laser and IPL systems, and I have utilized laser in my practice since 1995. The cosmetic field in dermatology is rapidly evolving, and I will be happy to discuss newer treatment options with you. My Ventura office is unlike any other medical office I have encountered. It is a large, modern and comfortable, and it lacks the cold and sterile feeling so commonly found in medical offices. I am fortunate to have a pleasant and courteous staff, all of whom truly care about our patients as actual human beings. Finally, it is essential to me that I always strive to communicate well with my patients, ensuring that my words are not only accurate and detailed, but clearly understandable as well. Your visit is not complete until you are comfortable that your problem has been addressed to your satisfaction. Robert R. Jordan, M.D

"Robert Jordan" is actually a pseudonym for James Oliver Rigney, Jr. (he's written under other pseudonyms, including Reagan O'Neal, Jackson O'Reilly, and Chang Lung), but the Wheel of Time series is going to establish this name in the genre for some time to come. He's graduated from the "Citadel", which is a military style academy, and he seems to use much of his experience there to add color and depth to his stories.
    • The Wheel of Time - Lots of huge books filled with gripping adventure. It is basically a Messiah legend, which Jordan manages to embellish with a myriad of details, placing quirky characters in a patchwork landscape. I started reading the series because I thought I should, and I continued reading them because I wanted to. There is plenty in these stories to remind readers of Tolkien, but Jordan is usually as good a story teller as Tolkien. I found the series late - the series' first book, The Eye of the World , a thinly disguised and rather inferior imitation of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings , came out in 1989 - but in the course of five weeks I bulldozed my way through all seven of the books. This wouldn't have been possible if the books hadn't improved markedly after the first.

I've been following his series, The Wheel of Time
Jordan's work had all the hallmarks of the finest fantasy. He crafted a complete, consistent world, with a detailed geography and history as well as equally detailed political, economic and social landscape. It was this consistency that was his hallmark, so much so you could use the information he provided as part of the story to try to theorise and extrapolate . His characters are the finest I've ever come across and his ability to give them depth is unparalleled, except (as my colleague Vishnu pointed out) perhaps for G. R. R. Martin

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose.... The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of time.
But it was a beginning." Featured Novel At the moment of Creation, the Creator bound the Dark One away from the world of humankind, but more than three thousand years ago, Aes Sedai, then both men and women, unknowingly bored into that prison outside of time. The Dark One was able to touch the world only lightly before the hole was soon sealed over. But the Dark One's taint settled on saidin, the male half of the Power, and every male Aes Sedai went mad. In the Breaking of the World they destroyed civilization and changed the very face of the earth, sinking mountains beneath the sea and bringing new seas where land had been. Now only women bear the title Aes Sedai. Commanded by their Amyrlin Seat and divided into seven Ajahs named by color, they rule the great island city of Tar Valon, where their White Tower stands, and are bound by the Three Oaths, fixed into their bones with saidar, the female half of the Power: To speak no word that is not true, to make no weapon for one man to kill another, and never to use the One Power against another except as a weapon against Shadowspawn or, in the last extreme, of defending her own life or that of her Warder or another sister.

Wheel Of Time Author Robert Jordan Dies
    By Josh Tyler
Sad news from the world of fantasy literature. Robert Jordan, known best as the author of the “Wheel of Time” series of books, died on the afternoon of Sunday September 16th after more than a year battling cardiac amyloidosis. The news comes from a message left on the author’s blog
The site says, "It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain." Funeral arrangements will be posted later on the blog, and for fans interesting in sending his family their best wishes, the comments section on Jordan’s there seems to be the place to do it.
Robert Jordan was a prominent voice in modern fantasy literature. The author’s massive Wheel of Time series has long been a top seller, and with his death he leaves the series’ twelfth book unfinished and his story painfully incomplete. It was the twelfth book which was supposed to end the series, finally finishing the story of Rand al’ Thor and his friends, a finale in the making since the publishing of the first WoT book “The Eye of the World” back in 1990.
As someone who’s read all eleven books, this hurts. Not just because now we’ll never know how 17 years worth of character development ends, but because Jordan seemed like a genuinely good person who loved what he was doing and loved his fans. Right now my thoughts are with his family and friends, but from now on whenever I look at his spot on my bookshelf it’ll always be to selfishly wonder what might have been.
