"Shortly before his death I asked him what he really thought on the subject, since he had written better ghost-stories than any man living. He answered: 'Depend upon it! Some of these things are so, but we do not know the rules !'" - Shane Leslie on M.R. James. Montague Rhodes James (1862-1936), Provost of King's College, Cambridge, and later of Eton, was a noted medieval scholar, antiquary, and expert on Bible apocrypha. He also authored some of the greatest and most influential ghost stories in the English language. There are approximately forty of his supernatural tales (some incomplete), most of which were published in Ghost Stories of an Antiquary , More Ghost Stories A Thin Ghost and Others A Warning to the Curious (1925) and The Collected Ghost Stories of M.R. James Among them are famous titles such as "Casting the Runes" and "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad". James also wrote a short supernatural fairy-tale novel for children, The Five Jars
M.R. James can arguably be described as the Father of the Modern Ghost Story, and Magazine continued the Jamesian tradition, as well as encouraging scholarly research into James, his themes and his followers. Founded in 1979, it was a small press, non-profit journal containing new stories, articles, reviews, columns and artwork.

James was born in Goodnestone Parsonage in Kent England , although his parents were closely connected with Aldeburgh Suffolk . From the age of three (1865) until 1909 his home, if not always his residence, was at the Rectory in Great Livermere , Suffolk. This had also been the childhood home of another eminent Suffolk antiquary, "Honest" Tom Martin "of Palgrave ." Several of the ghost stories are set in Suffolk, including "'Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad'" (

Gold and Dollar Market Summary
Author: Jim Sinclair
Dear CIGA
Tonight, let’s talk about liquidity. Liquidity in the traditional sense is a product of Federal Reserve money market activities.
In the case of open market operations, the Fed constantly buys and sells U.S. government securities in financial markets, which in turn influences the level of reserves in the banking system. These decisions also affect the volume and the price of credit (interest rates).
The term "open market" means that the Fed doesn't independently decide which securities dealers it will do business with on a particular day. Rather, the choice emerges from an open market where the primary securities dealers compete. Open market operations are the most frequently employed tool of monetary policy.

Dominic James: Mr. Basketball?
Indiana's Mr. Basketball will be announced on Sunday, April 10. Dominic James, Luke Zeller and Josh McRoberts are considered the front-runners for the award, with Zeller making a strong statement for the honor after winning the state title on his own half court shot last week. Meanwhile, McRoberts has the advantage of a higher national profile than either Zeller or James.
Not surprisingly, Dominic James' hometown paper, the Palladium-Item, contends that DJ deserves the honor . Also, check out this site , which is a campaign homepage of sorts for James.
Good luck, Dominic. Written by NY Warrior at 7:52 AM var sb_post_date = "Monday, April 04, 2005"; var sb_url_to_rate = "http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/2005/04/dominic-james-mr-basketball.html"; var sb_rated_title = "Dominic James: Mr. Basketball?";
