He was born on May 29, 1736, in Hanover County, Virginia. Henry failed as both a storekeeper and a farmer before being admitted to the Virginia bar in 1760. However, he won fame in 1763 after his impassioned pleading in the Parsons' Cause, a case in which he defended the right of the colony to fix the price of the tobacco in which the clergy were paid, despite a contrary ruling from London. When Henry entered the House of Burgesses in 1765, he and Richard Henry Lee successfully compelled the entrenched oligarchy to share power with them. Henry's effectiveness as an orator gave him a commanding influence in the legislature throughout his life. National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Patrick Henry Chapter Martinsville, Virginia established 1905 2-090 VA - District VII Chapter History In June of 1779, Patrick Henry and his family arrived in Leatherwood in Henry County, Virginia. He represented Henry County in the House of Delegates, where he served numerous terms and later became Virginia's first governor. On January 1, 1785, Henry was given a Commonwealth Grant for 2,125 acres of land in Henry County. The thirteen women who met and organized the Patrick Henry Chapter, DAR on June 15, 1905, were aware of the rich heritage in Martinsville and Henry County. They agreed unanimously to name the chapter "Patrick Henry" because of his many ties with the state and the area. In 1922, the Patrick Henry Chapter erected a monument on land that was once Patrick Henry's farm. That portion of the land was deeded to the Virginia DAR. In 1976, a historical marker denoting the former homeland of Patrick Henry was placed on U. S. 58 East by the Highway Department at a cost of $475 which chapter members raised. Each year the chapter gives a scholarship to a student at Patrick Henry Community College.

But just what are they teaching at Patrick Henry College? And why do so many students end up working for George Bush? by Andrew Buncombe It is worth making clear from the outset that Patrick Henry College in rural Virginia is not your average American university. At Patrick Henry, the students - about 75 per cent of whom have been taught at home rather than in schools - are required to sign a statement of faith before they arrive, confirming (among other things) that they have a literal belief in the teachings of the Bible. At Patrick Henry, students must obey a curfew. They must wear their hair neatly and dress "modestly". Students must also obey a rule stating that if they wish to hold hands with a member of the opposite sex, they must do so while walking: standing while holding hands is not permitted. And at Patrick Henry, students must sign an honor pledge that bans them from drinking alcohol unless under parental supervision.

Don't get me wrong - I like Ron Paul. Who doesn't, other than the owners of our Zionist State Factories, the military-industry complex? If he became president, their trillion dollar death machine would collapse like WTC-7. Those who planned the 9/11 massacre don't want him. The owners of the Federal Reserve Corporation don't like him, of course. But I repeat myself. Ron Paul thinks the Constitution is some sort of safeguard of our rights, some sort of limitation on what government can do. Of the thousands of congressmen who have been his colleagues over thirty years, he is the only one who still believes that, which is part of his charm. Larry McDonald had a similar though less stringent philosophy and we saw what happened to him. George Hansen, too, believed the Constitution did not allow terroristic tax collection but he was wrong and we saw what happened to him. Ask George Hansen if he still believes in the Constitution. Jim Trafficant believed the Constitution protected the rights of his constituent, John Demjanjuk, and for that he, too, rots in prison. I don't recommend asking Trafficant what he thinks of the Constitution.
