Jump to: navigation search Susan Elizabeth George (born February 26 ) is an American author of mystery novels set in Great Britain . Eleven of her novels featuring Inspector Lynley have been adapted for television by the BBC as The Inspector Lynley Mysteries She was born in Warren Ohio , but moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when she was eighteen months old. She was a student of English , receiving a teaching certificate. While teaching English in the public school system, she completed an advanced degree in psychology Her first published novel was A Great Deliverance in , featuring Thomas Lynley , Lord Asherton, a Scotland Yard inspector of noble birth; Barbara Havers , Lynley's assistant, from a very working-class background; Lady Helen Clyde , Lynley's girlfriend and later wife, of noble birth as well; and Lynley's friends Simon and Deborah St. James. Whilst well written and with good character observation, there are often "howlers" in terms of British customs and inappropriate use of words and phrases, such as the Laura Ashley Tea Caddy (rather than Cosy) famously used to keep a tea pot warm. BIOGRAPHY Elizabeth George was born Susan Elizabeth George in Warren, Ohio. When she was eighteen months old, her family relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area where they lived in what's now part of Silicon Valley but was then the small town of Mountain View. There, she was educated at St. Joseph's Grammar School and Holy Cross High School by the Sisters of the Holy Cross. She began her university education at Foothill Community College in Los Altos Hills, and from there she transferred to and graduated from the University of California in Riverside, California, picking up units along the way at UC Berkeley as well. She also attended California State University at Fullerton, where she was awarded a master's degree in Counseling/Psychology and UC Riverside again where she received a lifetime secondary teaching credential. In 2004, she was awarded an honorary doctorate of humane letters by California State University at Fullerton. Professionally, she started out as a teacher. She was employed at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana initially, but there she gave in to her bent for organized labor and was summarily fired along with ten other teachers for union activity. When the courts ordered the school to rehire all of the teachers, she was unavailable as she had quickly moved on to El Toro High School in El Toro, California (now called Lake Forest, California), where she remained for the rest of her career as an English teacher. While employed there, she was selected Orange County Teacher of the Year, a tribute in part to the work she'd done with remedial students for nearly a decade. She left education after thirteen and a half years when she sold her first novel, A Great Deliverance, to her longtime publisher Bantam Books.

Author Elizabeth George
Elizabeth George has been called "a master of the English mystery" ( New York Times ), a remarkable accolade for an Ohio-born, California-raised American writer. A graduate of the University of California at Riverside and California State University at Fullerton, she began her career as a high school English teacher. During her more than thirteen-year tenure in public education, she was named Orange County Teacher of the Year. After publishing her first novel, A Great Deliverance , she continued to teach at the community college level. She has since taught courses in writing at several colleges and universities throughout the United States, Canada and in the UK. In her internationally best-selling novels, George has followed in the literary footsteps of such Golden Age writers as Dorothy L. Sayers and Agatha Christie, while bringing her own modern sensibility to dark, psychologically rich tales of crime and detection. Her beloved series characters Inspector Thomas Lynley, a to-the-manor-born Scotland Yard detective, and his working class sergeant, Barbara Havers have entered the pantheon of fictional crime-solving teams. Consistent bestsellers, Elizabeth George's books always garner wide critical praise. The

hank you for visiting my home page! I hope you enjoy your stay, and please take a moment to sign my guestbook. Here's to the joy of writing and reading romance! As you might guess by my record of awards as a prepublished author, writing historical romance is a passion. Ever since I was a child, when my mother read Grimm's Fairy Tales (the real, scary ones, not the mellow versions) to me, I've been a fan of taking a trip back in time to the days of old. Growing up, I discovered the genre' of historical romance. I gobbled up stories of dashing knights and feisty southern belles, 1999 Four Seasons Award Winner, Historical

A Thought For You
Where can you find greater strength for today? And where can you go to get help for all your tomorrows? In God you have everything you need. Psalm 23 states, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” These facts and truths about God cover every day and every season of your life. Imagine always have the Lord as your shepherd and leader! And imagine always having everything you truly need! Because of God’s character, you don’t need to know the path or the future. And you don’t need to worry either! You only need to know the God who promises to care for you and to lead you. Even in your "impossible" situations, you can know that God’s resources are abundantly available to you. He will refresh and encourage you, and bring purpose and hope in the midst of life’s frantic pace.
