"If loneliness is the disease, the story is the cure."
Pulitzer Prizewinning author Richard Ford is a leading figure among American writers of the postWorld War II generation. His novel The Sportswriter (1986), along with its sequel Independence Day (1995)the first novel to win both the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award in the same yearmade Frank Bascombe, Ford's suburban Everyman, as much a part of the American literary landscape as John Updike's Rabbit Angstrom. With three other novels, a critically acclaimed volume of short stories, and a trilogy of novellas to his credit, Ford's reputation and his place in the canon is certainly secure. In Conversations with Richard Ford , the first collection of this author's interviews and profiles, editor Huey Guagliardo has gathered together twenty-eight revealing conversations spanning a quarter of a century. These show that Ford is a writer of paradoxes. He was born in the South, but unlike many southern-born writers of his generation he eschews writing set in just one region. When his first novel

(2)] Ladies and gentlemen: I have come to a decision which I felt I should tell you and all of my fellow American citizens, as soon as I was certain in my own mind and in my own conscience that it is the right thing to do. I have learned already in this office that the difficult decisions always come to this desk. I must admit that many of them do not look at all the same as the hypothetical questions that I have answered freely and perhaps too fast on previous occasions. My customary policy is to try and get all the facts and to consider the opinions of my countrymen and to take counsel with my most valued friends. But these seldom agree, and in the end, the decision is mine. To procrastinate, to agonize, and to wait for a more favorable turn of events that may never come or more compelling external pressures that may as well be wrong as right, is itself a decision of sorts and a weak and potentially dangerous course for a President to follow.

    72. Speedway Videos - Richard And Tammy Ford - SpeedwayVideos.net
Speedway Videos was formed in 1995 in Corpus Christi, TX after richard ford unfortunately blew the engine of his racecar at Corpus Christi Speedway.
    http://www.speedwayvideos.net/
Speedway Videos has turned off their camera for the final time. We filmed our last race at 411 Motor Speedway in October of this year. Tammy and Richard would like to thank all of the Track Owners, Series, Drivers and Fans of racing for their great support over the years.
Some may know that Richard raced off and on in his younger years (18-29), and Richard picked up the video camera after giving up racing. Well, Richard raced about 9 races in 2007 and has the fever to drive once again! Richard is turning 40 in February and seems to have decided to have his mid-life crisis by racing in the loc al FWD classes here in Tennessee.
The following people need a very special thanks:
    * Carson Branum for giving us our first break in Tennessee at Smoky Mountain back in 2000.
    * Joe, PD, RW, and Beverly from Volunteer Speedway. When we thought we were done in 2002, they invited us to Volunteer and treated us like family. We stayed there until 2005.
    * Sports Plus Video, who answered every question we asked. We learned a lot about shooting video by talking with and watching their videos. Steve deserves a lot of the credit for the way we shoot races.
Thanks to everybody who helped Speedway Videos throughout the years!

You can experience your former self and as well understand what the you from back then might think of the you from this moment. You may or may not have grown and changed, but the words here have not changed. They have however, grown just as wise in the intervening years as you have. That may not be much. But it is enough.

Beaches are areas that are of great interest to the public but are sparsely inhabited by macrofauna and not well studied in New Zealand. I am interested in investigating factors that structure macrofaunal communities in this habitat. In the future I hope to investigate such questions as...
  • What is the importance of drift algae to macrofaunal beach communities? How does the behaviour of animals help to control their distribution on the beach, and how does this behaviour interact with hydrodynamic forces?
  • Monitoring relevance
Many questions logically present themselves as a consequence of being involved in monitoring for the Auckland Regional Council (see Contract Activities). For example...
  • How can we view monitoring data appropriately across a region For animals we know decline slowly in abundance in response to a pollutant can we measure their physiological stress and thus be forewarned of their demise?
