A short collection of facts about dr. seuss s life.
    http://www.rivalquest.com/drseuss/bio.html
A brief, rough biography of Dr. Seuss Here is a brief, mostly correct, overview of Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel. - Theodor Seuss Geisel was born 2 March 1904 in Springfield, MA. He graduated Dartmouth College in 1925, and proceeded on to Oxford University with the intent of acquiring a doctorate in literature. At Oxford he met Helen Palmer, who he wed in 1927. He returned from Europe in 1927, and began working for a magazine called Judge, the leading humor magazine in America at the time, submitting both cartoons and humorous articles for them. Additionally, he was submitting cartoons to Life, Vanity Fair and Liberty. In some of his works, he'd made reference to an insecticide called Flit. These references gained notice, and led to a contract to draw comic ads for Flit. This association lasted 17 years, gained him national exposure, and coined the catchphrase "Quick, Henry, the Flit!" - In 1936 on the way to a vaction in Europe, listening to the rhythm of the ship's engines, he came up with And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, which was then promptly rejected by the first 43 publishers he showed it to. Eventually in 1937 a friend published the book for him, and it went on to at least moderate success. - During WW II, Geisel joined the army and was sent to Hollywood. Captain Geisel would write for Frank Capra's Signal Corps Unit (for which he won the Legion of Merit) and do documentaries (he won Oscar's for Hitler Lives and Design for Death). He also created a cartoon called Gerald McBoing-Boing which also won him an Oscar.

Detroit: Dr. Seuss Designs a Car
By Chuck Squatriglia Categories: Detroit Auto Show Electric Vehicles We doubt they'd ever admit it, but we just know the designers at Bei Jing Li Shi Guang Ming Automobile Design Co. have the complete works of Dr. Seuss on their shelves and " Who Framed Roger Rabbit " in their DVD players. How else can you explain the jellybean-like design of their prototype electric cars called Piece of Cloud, Detroit Fish and Book of Songs? These are by far the most whimsical designs at the North American International Auto Show . You can't help but smile when you see them. Further proving the company has a great sense of humor, a small card alongside the display for the Fish reads, “Suggestion: Renowned environmentalist - President Bush, ordering this car for his Texas ranch.” More info and pics after the jump... Bei Jing is one of five Chinese companies attending the show to test the waters ahead of a possible push into the American market, and the company says its electric runabouts are just the thing for gated communities, college campuses and tooling around town. The amphibious - an amphibious EV? - five-seater Detroit Fish is the biggest, measuring not quite 10 feet long , 6 feet wide and 5 1/2 feet tall. The car that looks like a shoe is Book of Songs, and the rolling jellybean is Piece of Cloud. They're all driven by 3.5 kilowatt motors powered by lead acid batteries, but an extra $3,000 or so gets you a lithium-ion battery. Estimated range is 93 miles for the Fish and 99 miles for the Cloud and Book, and they've all got a top speed of 30 mph. List prices are $3,800 for the Cloud, $5,200 for the Book and $5,800 for the Fish.

You can heave with all your might, boulders never will take flight. but here's a trick that you can do, to chunk a rock to Timbucktu `A Catapult' as some might say, but be correct, it's `treb-u- chet Trevor I will not build this `treb-u- chet ' I will not, shall not waste my day I shall not build it out of wood, I shall not build it, it's no good. Eric How can you think that it's no good? the trebuchet's misunderstood! You can fling a rock real far you can even fling a car. You can fling it through the woods thus I say that it is good.
