While Jim Lewis was alive, he regularly conducted seminars in which he trained people rigorously in Astro*Carto*Graphy techniques. Subsequently, he administered a certification exam, and those who passed his stringent qualifications were given a certificate as a professional Astro*Carto*Grapher. Continuum is currently administering Jim's certification program and is the only group entitled to issue Astro*Carto*Graphy certificates. (For information on the process, see our Testing Procedure .) As of February, 2006, there are only 88 certified Astro*Carto*Graphy practitioners world-wide, and most of them are listed below, in alphabetical order. Following that is a list of other qualified though not certified people who have made a contribution to our field and have been designated Friends of Astro*Carto*Graphy.
CERTIFIED ASTRO*CARTO*GRAPHY PRACTITIONERS The following professional astrologers have been trained, tested and certified, either by Jim Lewis orsince l999by CONTINUUM and are qualified to counsel and teach in the area of ASTRO*CARTO*GRAPHY. The list was updated in July, 2007, but we would appreciate hearing of any outdated listings. We do not have current addresses for all of themwe like to think they have taken their own A*C*G maps in hand and are happily exploring their lines around the globe! However, we wanted to include them in recognition of their hard work in becoming certified.

White Noise
National Book Award Winners (1985)
Author Info: Don DeLillo
I've been perplexed for some time about the Don DeLillo phenomenon : how can such a good writer be such a bad novelist? One finishes one of his books with deep admiration for his style and certain scenes, but wondering what happened to the story he was telling and what was the point of writing the book. There's an irritating sameness to the novels, with their paranoid plots of modern life run amok and a world devoid of any meaning. The latter in particular is the basis for the claim, which seems justified, that Mr. DeLillo is the best American post-modernist. To the extent that post-modernism stands for anything it stands for the idea that nothing means anything. (Of course, that begs the question of why write about anything, but we'll ignore that for the nonce.) White Noise tells the story of Jack Gladney, a professor of Hitler Studies at a small college. He's on his fourth wife, Babbette and has four kids and what I think most of us would say is an excessive fear of modern life and of his own death. Of the book Mr. DeLillo has said

PLAY
Mark THE CRUCIBLE Thomas Putnam The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller in 1953. It is based on the events surrounding the 1692 witch trials of Salem, Massachusetts. Miller wrote about the event as an allegory for McCarthyism and the Red Scare, which occurred in the United States in the 1950s. Miller was himself questioned by the House Committee on Un-American Activities in 1956. The play was first performed on Broadway on January 22, 1953. The reviews of the first production were hostile, but a year later a new production succeeded and the play became a classic. Today the play is often studied in high schools around the world.
