Waddy and His Brother
F212 I'm surprised you didn't recognize this: I t must be: Hoban Bread and jam for Frances
Thanks for your effort, but unfortunately that is not the book I am looking for. In , there are none of the babysitting scenes I described in my original posting. The way I remember the title of the book, it was something like, "Frances babysits" although that can't be right, since I've researched all the Hoban books, and none of them are about Frances babysitting. It's a conundrum!

I'm sorry to disagree, but this is NOT Bread and Jam for Frances (written by Russell Hoban , illustrated by Lillian Hoban). In that book, Frances is cured of her picky eating habits when her mother serves her favorite snack, bread and jam, at every meal. She quickly tires of bread and jam and longs for variety in her diet. The stumper requester is looking for a different book!
This is definitely NOT Bread and Jam for Frances.

The Duplications: Nada Gordon, "Nugatory Wax Milk Goats"

From now until end of November will be "poetry Goddess" month on The Duplications. Of course I'd like to have women submit to the magazine all year round, but in practice it's been about a five to one ration of submissions (male to female). Posted by Jonathan at 6:17 AM 1 comments
I'm writing the poem below, "Mayhew's Mood," in public, as it were. Thanks to all those who have liked parts of it so far. It's going to be quite a long poem by my standards, even after I edit out some less than inspired parts.

Studies in Poetry: English 5279-001 Course Description: do The Purpose of the Class: is to give you enough information in modernist and contemporary poetics that you can orient yourself within that scholarship and acquire tools that will help you pursue your studies in poetics for the long-term. The class also aims to sharpen both your creative and critical skills as writers: knowing how other poets have made decisions about what writing means and how to do it will feed your own sense of possibility. Finally, the class is intended to sharpen the poetics conversation within the C.U. community. As you query your peers on their poetics, you should gain a richer sense of the processes and sensibilities that inform this community. Attendance Policy: Attendance is a crucial part of the class. Students who miss the first week of class are subject to administrative drop. I will take attendance each time we meet and students who miss more than one class should expect to see their grade drop by one level for each subsequent absences (i.e., from an A to an A-). In addition, I find late arrivals to class to be disruptive and disrespectful.
