Records of plague outbreaks are taken from Singman and McLean's Daily Life in Chaucer's England . (Geoffrey Chaucer, The Parliament of Fowles , circa 1380) The Parliament of Fowles Chaucer also chose Saint Valentine as a patron for that marriage, which is the first mention of Saint Valentine in a love poem. Also in the poem are other symbols of love which came to be associated with Saint Valentine's Day: Cupid and Venus. Chaucer thus began a tradition of composing love poetry on Saint Valentine's Day.

A translation of The Parson's Tale has now been added to The Interlinear Translations of The Canterbury Tales , which is now complete (Oct 3 2006). This site provides materials for Harvard University's Chaucer classes in the Core Program, the English Department, and the Division of Continuing Education. (Others of course are welcome to use it.) It provides a wide range of glossed Middle English texts and translations of analogues relevant to Chaucer's works, as well as selections from relevant works by earlier and later writers, critical articles from a variety of perspectives, graphics, and general information on life in the Middle Ages. At the moment the site concentrates on the Canterbury Tales, but the longer-term goal is to create a more general Chaucer page. ldb@wjh.harvard.edu

Studies in the Age of Chaucer Bibliography
A colossal endeavor by Prof. Mark Allen of UTSA; this is one of the most useful tools available for the study of Chaucer, a searchable, annotated bibliography of every book and article written about Chaucer for the last several years. It will eventually go back about 25 years. The annotations are excellent and will give you a good idea whether or not you need to look at the work.
This bibliography is now available on a website, "fully searchable and web-friendly" indeed.

Fixed CT search form on sidebar. Midsize link update (mended links to pages that had moved, deleted those that had expired, added some new sites on the basis of visitor suggestions ); many thanks to Emily Gold of the Chaucer MetaPage. Reviewed and recommended in Choice magazine . Highly recommended: Daniel T. Kline's Electronic Canterbury Tales Project , a comprehensive guide to online texts and commentary, organized by tale. Here at geoffreychaucer.org: Site search engine now available. A new (albeit sparsely populated) section on sources and analogues. Multiple additions to the bibliography, biography, commentary, images, language, and teaching sections. Mark Allen and John H. Fisher's Essential Chaucer bibliography (1900-1984) is now online. New, more memorable URL:

One of the most difficult and tedious things to do is research keyword niches for the purpose of using that in a blog post or using that to optimize a page or website. Internet keyword niches are target audiences who have a need that needs to be met, and that need is manifested in the type of keywords they search for on search engines.
