Many people are aware that Anne's grave is situated in Scarborough - at the northern end of St. Mary's churchyard , beneath the castle walls; but few know anything of how she came to be interred there, or what her connections with the resort were. The following paragraphs give a brief account of Anne's life, and highlight her connections with Scarborough . . . At a very early age, the four remaining children developed a keen interest in reading, and studied a wide range of material - visiting local libraries to gain access to a much wider range of books than those available to them at the Parsonage. They soon began to make up their own stories, and eventually invented their own fantasy kingdoms, complete with imaginary rulers, people and adventures. These fantasy worlds and kingdoms gradually acquired all the characteristics of the real world - sovereigns, armies, heroes, outlaws, fugitives, inns, schools, publishers; and for these peoples and lands the children created newspapers, magazines and chronicles, all of which were written out in extremely tiny books, with writing that was so small it was difficult to read without the aid of a magnifying glass. These juvenile creations and writings served as the apprenticeship of their later, incredible literary talents.

On the Death of Anne Bronte
By Charlotte Bronte
Anne Bronte died from tuberculosis on May 28, 1849.
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints."
~ Psalm 116:15 ~
here's little joy in life for me,
And little terror in the grave;
I've lived the parting hour to see
Of one I would have died to save.
Calmly to watch the failing breath, Wishing each sigh might be the last; Longing to see the shade of death O'er those beloved features cast; The cloud, the stillness that must part The darling of my life from me; And then to thank God from my heart, To thank Him well and fervently; Although I knew that we had lost The hope and glory of our life; And now, benighted, tempest-tossed, Must bear alone the weary strife.

http://www.moglit.demon.co.uk/rpg/york/who/anneb.htm
Main Index Who's Who
Anne Bronte
Background
Member of the Leeds Toreador group, she has forgiven her brother Branwell for her Embrace. She enjoys the social whirl of Toreador life which she feels makes up for her isolation and tedious life as a mortal. For a Leeds Toreador, Anne is rather modern in her dress and speech. Anne has little contact with Emily. She doesn't understand her sister's passion for the Moors or her anachronistic dress. She avoids Emily, partly because they have little in common any more and partly because Anne doesn't want to damage her standing in Marie's eyes by associating too much with a friend of Anne Cartwright's. The only place they regularly meet is the Bradford Mechanic's Institute Library, which is regarded as neutral ground. However, Anne still reads her sister's books and also writes herself. Anne's books are mostly biographies of kine, for the research of which she find her Presence and Auspex very handy. After Marie, Anne is probably the most socially ambitious Toreador in the fief. She is very concious of status and position, even for a Toreador. She is usually one step ahead in the prestation game and can always be relied upon for an accurate assesment of who is on the way up or down. In Elysium she is often referred to (affectionately and not so affectionately) as 'the Harpy'. Anne would dearly love to become the Toreador Primogen of the fief. However, the only way for this to happen is if Marie leaves the fief, dies or becomes the Prince. Anne feels that the last option is by far the most likely and would be willing to help Marie in any way she could. At the moment, Anne is working on her own position. She hopes that soon she come to be regarded as an Elder in the fief. She is rather jealous of Anne Cartwright who achieved her own rather early recognition as an Elder by 'founding' the Bradford Toreador faction. Anne Bronte feels that this is not really playing the game.

Bronte, Anne Biography
Anne Bronte (1820-1849) - pseudonym Acton Bell English writer, sister of Charlotte Bronte and Emily Bronte. Anne Bronte is best-known of her AGNES GREY (1847) and THE TENANT OF WILDFELL HALL (1848), which are generally considered more conservative works than her sisters. The close-knit Bronte family have inspired many studies, in which Charlotte, the oldest child, is characterized as the most ambitious writer, and Emily the greatest genius. Anne has been described mild and the less-talented youngest sister although, but her novels were sharp and ironic. 'If you loved as I do,' she earnestly replied, 'you would not have so nearly lost me - these scruples of false delicacy and pride would never thus have troubled you - you would have seen that the greatest wordly distinctions and discrepancies of rank, birth, and fortune are as dust in the balance compared with the unity of accordant thoughts and feelings, and truly loving, sympathizing heart and souls.' (from The Tenant of Wildfell Hall Anne Bronte was born in Thornton, Yorkshire. She was the youngest of six children of Patrick and Maria Bronte, and educated largely at home. After the death of her mother in 1821, and two other children, Maria (d. 1825) and Elizabeth (d. 1825), Anne was left with her sisters and brother to the care of their father. Other members of the family were Elizabeth Branwell, a Calvinist aunt, and the family servant, Tabitha Aycroyd, who knew many folk-tales. The girls most effective education was at the Haworth parsonage, in which Mr. Bronte settled the year before his wife's death. They read the Bible, Homer, Virgil, Shakespeare, Milton, Byron, Scott, and many others, and examined articles from

Dorit Sasson Mar 31, 2007
Agnes' decision to leave home and become a governess is part of the theme of female identity in question in Victorian Literature.
Anne Bronte's protagonist Agnes in Agnes Grey leaves her family at the tender age of eighteen in order to become a governess, or, a modern day nanny . As part of the process of attaining social and economic independence, the separation from her family's ability to influence her decision is necessary in order to develop her own identity as a governess . Agnes narrates: "Though a woman in my own estimation, I was still a child in theirs. (
