skip to main skip to sidebar Tuesday, September 26, 2006 Joseph Arthur: Black Lexus I first heard Joseph Arthur's music when a friend gave me his beautiful Redemption's Son album as an anniversary present a few years ago. Soon after that, his songs began popping up in everything from American Pie 3 to The O.C. to The L Word . But he still seemed to remain a relatively unknown artist. Probably because his song "Honey and the Moon" got lost in the mix of acoustic-pop singer-songwriter boys with guitars that were popular at the time. But despite the impression that may have given by that particular song and all the tv marketing, Joseph Arthur's music is closer to Damien Rice, Ben Harper, and especially Ray LaMontagne than it is to the Mayers and Blunts of the music scene. His latest album, Nuclear Daydream , was released on September 19th. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the "Black Lexus" mp3 in an email from his management. I think it's the first time I've been contacted like that regarding an artist I liked long before I began blogging. I'm a little late on the blogger bandwagon for this one, but I'm not going to let that stop me from posting good music. "Black Lexus" seems a little darker and more atmospheric than some of Arthur's previous works. And that's a good thing. I hope the rest of the album is this good.
