CBIT - The Children's Brain Injury Trust Aims to improve the quality of life for children and youth with a brain injury by providing a helpline, events, conferences, research, advocacy, grants, and funding information. Offers details about the family impact, medical aspects, educational concerns, legal issues, support groups, and resources. http://www.cbituk.org/
Extractions: Skip Navigation Important Notice: Downloadable information available here The Child Brain Injury (CBIT) supports anyone in the United Kingdom affected by childhood acquired brain injury. We provide information, support and training to families and professionals. An acquired brain injury is sometimes referred to as hidden disability, and often goes unrecognised. This inevitably leads to problems for a child in terms of education, provision of care and support. CBIT is working to change this and ensure that professionals recognise the impact and understand the issues. An acquired brain injury (ABI) is an injury to the brain that has happened after birth, following a period of normal development. It could be the result of an accident, illness such as an infection, stroke, tumour or poisoning. The injury can affect the way a person thinks, feels and behaves and can, but not always, affect them physically. WHO ARE WE?
