District Home TEACHER PROFILES 6th GRADE Jill Armijo Growing up in Bozeman, Montana I was fortunate to have a wonderful education. Most of the teachers I remember as outstanding and challenging were my mathematics teachers. Maybe that is why I am back in the mountains teaching math. My journey started with a business degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. After working for two years in Seattle I decided that marketing was not meaningful enough for me, so I went back to school in California and earned a teaching certificate. My first teaching job was in an inner city school in Sacramento, CA. I had 34 students in my class and there were 21 languages represented school wide. I believe that experience changed my life and is the reason I am still in education today. After twelve years of teaching I have decided to specialize in mathematics and am working on my Master in Middle Level Math from the University of Wyoming. Steve Boyd Mr. Boyd enjoys skiing, fly fishing, backpacking, and his family. That aside, Steven Ross Boyd attended UCSB and obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Communications. After college, he decided to substitute while trying to figure out his lifes calling. He loved all aspects of the school environment and the challenges one faces as a substitute and figured it would be much better as a teacher. He wasnt wrong. He decided to attend San Jose State University to obtain his teaching credential. Jackson won the bidding war and was able to acquire his services. He feels lucky to be working and living in such a beautiful community. He likes the fact that a missing dog is news on the radio. Mr. Boyd was quoted as saying, Kids help me live in the present while I help them prepare for the future. I love my job and feel it is a privilege and an honor to be a teacher.

Sugarman Although a great deal has been written about charter schools, rather little attention has been given to their funding. The first part of this article raises four current issues in the funding of regular public schools across the U.S. and shows how these issues carry over to the funding of charter schools. The second part explores four additional issues that have arisen in the funding of charter schools that go to the core identity of charter schools and the nature of the students they enroll. In both parts, extra attention is paid to developments in California, one of the most active charter school states.
