Although academics are the backbone of any educational organization, leadership is the muscle here at MMA. Cadets learn through a structured, traditional military school environment self-discipline, teamwork, motivation, how to follow, and how to lead. Also, the establishment of a separate and distinct School of Leadership Studies is unique among all other secondary, military boarding schools in the country. The cost for a new student for the 2005-2006 academic years is $23,000. That figure includes tuition, room, board, uniforms, laundry, linens, and cleaning fees. In addition, there is a $100 non-refundable application fee and a one-time $750 reservation deposit due upon acceptance. The nine-month academic year begins in mid-August and continues through late May. Applications are accepted at any time, but new students must register only at the beginning of a semester (August and January). English as a Second Language: English as a Second Language (ESL) is a four-week summer program of intense immersion in the English language for foreign students ages 13-17. It includes 40 hours/week of class instruction as well as military training and physical fitness activities. Applications for admission are accepted until the ESL class is full (approximately 40 students) for the 2005 class that will begin July 3, 2005 and ends July 30, 2005.
