Few people are aware of the enormous diversity of job opportunities that exist in veterinary medical sciences. In addition to the well-known private practice D.V.M., veterinary scientists serve in government, industry, and academia in a plethora of roles. Juliff of Bryan were recognized during the college's 1996 Outstanding Alumnus Banquet held at Texas A&M University Association of Former Students' Clayton Williams Jr. Alumni Center in College Station. The banquet was part of the College of Veterinary Medicine's 1996 homecoming activities. Golden and Juliff were recognized as outstanding veterinary alumni in government, industry and academia. Jones was recognized as an outstanding alumnus in the category of food animal medicine. Golden, a 1969 graduate of the College of Veterinary medicine and a colonel in the U.S. Air Force, is director of the veterinary sciences division, Armstrong Laboratory, Brooks Air Force Base, San Antonio. In that position, Golden directs and manages the largest U.S. Air Force laboratory animal resources program in the country. The program supports Air Force research and development activities in areas including toxicology, ionizing radiation, lasers and emergency medical education. He also is veterinary medical consultant to the Air Force surgeon-general and military consultant to the U.S. Surgeon General for laboratory animal medicine. Jones is a 1951 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine. He is president and general manager of Panhandle Veterinary Supply, a company he organized to provide veterinary medications to Panhandle veterinarians at reasonable cost.
