Extractions: Getting Started with Matlab Jump to: ES 220B Course Outline Lecture Notes Labs Matlab is a general-purpose numerical analysis software program. For ES 220B, we will be using it in conjunction with a library of Matlab programs that were provided by Dr. Gary Margrave, at the University of Calgary. These programs were provided free for education and non-profit research purposes only. Matlab is not particularly user-friendly, but when you get used to it you will find it not too bad. When invoked, Matlab opens a main window, where you will see the prompt: To get started, type one of these commands: helpwin, helpdesk, or demo. You can think of this window as an "interactive programming environment". You type in commands, using a computer programming-like syntax. Commands can be saved into files (ending with the suffix ".m"), which are actually Matlab programs. Most of the labs and assignments will use either intrinsic matlab commands or programs that have been written for you. You may have occasion to create your own programs, however. As you work, matlab creates variables to store the data that you type in or create with programs. Your collective data is called your workspace. You can save your workspace using the matlab

To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence." Phi Theta Kappa's mission is two-fold: 1) recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and (2) provide opportunities for individual growth and development through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming. Phi Theta Kappa traces its beginnings to a Society that originated with six charter members under the name of Kappa Phi Omicron at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, in 1910. The Society continued to grow and in the spring of 1918 was one of many honorary groups in Missouri. At a meeting of the presidents of the Missouri junior colleges for women in 1918, it was decided to organize a new honorary society, chapters of which would have a common character, stand, and similarity of organization. The name Phi Theta Kappa was chosen, and the Society was incorporated in Missouri as a national organization. Founders modeled many aspects of the new Society after the prestigious senior college honorary society, Phi Beta Kappa.

Theta Zeta Chapter Of Sigma Theta Tau theta Zeta Chapter of Sigma theta Tau International. Planned and presentedprograms Nursing Public Image on October 18, 1985 by Kalish and Kalish. http://orgs.bloomu.edu/stti/chapter_history.shtml
Extractions: History of the Honor Society of Nursing During the academic year 1977-1978, the faculty at Bloomsburg State College, Department of Nursing, began initial steps in the development of a Sigma Theta Tau Chapter. Plans to survey interest of faculty and persons in the communities within a fifty-mile radius and drafting of letters to appropriate college authorities were done by Dr. Gertrude E. Flynn and Dorette Welk. In the fall of 1978, the possibility for a joint chapter formation between Bloomsburg State College and College Misericordia was studied. Identification of additional numbers of Sigma Theta Tau members from within the communities was attempted. In February 1979, after further investigation through both college officials, it was decided to postpone application for a joint chapter until both programs received NLN accreditation. Further decision regarding the formation of a joint or single local honor society was planned for later by an elected Steering Committee. In the Fall Semester of 1982, the on-campus procedure for Honor Society formation was carried out within a copy of the Bylaws and a petition of interest of faculty and student signatures was forwarded to Mr. John Trathen, Director of Student Activities. In September of 1982, the Ad Hoc Committee for formation of a Local Honor Society became the Steering Committee for the creation of the Honor Society in which the long term goal was to become a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. This committee planned for a Sigma Theta Tau consultation with Ms. Andrea O. Hollingsworth, member of the National Eligibility Committee of Sigma Theta Tau and a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania. She addressed the Steering Committee for the Local Honor Society on October 1, 1982. The consultant presented an overview of Sigma Theta Tau and the Procedural Guidelines for Establishing the Local Honor Society. The following areas of concern from the committee members were presented to the consultant for discussion:
