The Connecticut Team Nutrition program has been providing nutrition education and training for schools, teachers, students and school food service workers since first receiving competitive funding from USDA in 1998. The grant activities are summarized below. 2003-2005 TN grant activities: The overall goal of Connecticut's 2003 Team Nutrition (TN) Training Grant is to improve schools' ability to positively impact children's healthy eating and physical activity habits through a statewide Healthy School Nutrition Environment (HSNE) Initiative. The HSNE Initiative will build statewide awareness of and support for a healthy school nutrition environment, promote obesity prevention strategies for schools, motivate and empower school leaders to take action, and provide the training, resources, and assistance needed for successful implementation in local school districts. Connecticut's TN Training Grant focuses on accomplishing this goal through four components intended to promote healthy school environments, and build local support among key decision makers for HSNE implementation.
