Extractions: Dominican Sisters celebrate Golden Jubilee Tennessee Register NASHVILLE. On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, three Dominican Sisters celebrated their Golden Jubilee at their Motherhouse in Nashville. I thank the Jubilarians for their fidelity and witness of their lives for these 50 years, said Father John Sims Baker, who was asked by the Jubilarians to deliver the homily. Sister Judith Wright, Sister Marie Vianney Hamilton and Sister Angelina Langston marked their 50 years as members of the Dominican Sisters of the Saint Cecilia Congregation with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Edward Kmiec, retired Bishop James Niedergeses and other priests from the diocese, followed by a reception for friends and family on June 18. Sister Mary Elaine Kitts, who also celebrated her Golden Jubilee this year, was unable to attend the Mass. The four Sisters have each worked in different facets of their orders teaching ministry since 1954, in Tennessee and throughout the region. The Sisters stalwart dedication to their vocations 50 years later is a sign to us of the reality of the kingdom of heaven, Father Baker said in his homily.

Extractions: The curriculum taught at CA is a college-preparatory curriculum. The Lower School curriculum Upper School curriculum The SAT and ACT tests at one time had very different formats. They are more similar now. The SAT test is now more like the ACT. The SAT does include writing an essay as part of the test. With the ACT, it is still optional. Colleges and universities generally accept either test. They will take the highest composite score the student has from any of the testing. I advise students to try both. The ACT test has an English test, reading test, mathematics test, and science reasoning test. It costs $29 dollars without the writing and $43 if the student takes the writing tests. You might want to check with any college your student plans to attend to see if they require the writing test. Most do not at this pointbut that may change. Check out the deadlines for registration. The ACT is given in Columbia at Central High School and Columbia State Community College on the following dates: Oct 22, Dec. 10, Feb. 11 April 8, and June 10 Your student may pick up a packet from me or register on-line at ww.actstudent.org

Many graduates became city and county political leaders. The last mayor of the old Nashville City Government, Ben West, and first Metro Government mayor, Beverly Briley, were classmates here.
