IFBB.com - Reports And News The Korean taekwondo Association s eagerness for electing President Kim as their President of the Korean sports Council and Korean olympic Committee. http://www.ifbb.com/reports/UnYongKim.html
Extractions: by Ben Weider, C.M., Ph.D. Dr. Un Yong Kim (right) receiving the IFBB Distinquished Service Award for his contributions to health, sport and fitness in Korea and around the world It is with the utmost pleasure that I introduce a friend and colleague, Dr. Un Yong Kim of Seoul, Korea. He is one of the most renowned and respected world sport leaders. He has made major contributions to sports in Korea and was very instrumental in bringing the Olympic Games to Korea. On an international level, he is probably one of the best-known sports officials and he is the head of some of the most prestigious international sport organizations. The Modern Olympic Games was given birth in 1898 by Pierre Coubertin. During the Industrial Revolution in the earlier part of the 20th century, there was a rapid rise in the Olympic Games and its popularity and at the end of the 20th Century, the Olympic Games are known and respected by billions of people in 200 countries around the world. Of all the cultural events in the entire world, the most popular and successful is the sports culture.
Extractions: Korea's national sport taekwondo has survived a crisis that threatened the martial art¡¯s Olympic status. The 117th meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in a vote on current disciplines at Singapore's Raffles Hotel on Friday decided by a majority to keep taekwondo on the list for the 2012 games in London. All 28 Olympic sports went through a vote, but the count was not announced. Taekwondo, first adopted as a formal Olympic sport at 2000 Sydney games, had come under heavy fire for biased judgments and low TV ratings for less-than-riveting bouts. But officials say diplomatic efforts by the World Taekwondo Federation and Korean Olympic Committee to protect the sport were effective. Perhaps more than anything, the support of 60 million taekwondo athletes in 179 member nations is believed to have clinched the vote. But baseball and softball, adopted at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta games, failed to make the grade, the first sports dropped by the Olympics since the games waved goodbye to polo in 1936. The IOC executive board will convene in the afternoon to choose two sports to replace them from among rugby, golf, karate, squash and roller sports. The selection will be put to the general assembly on Saturday. New disciplines need a two-thirds majority.

My Olympics Out, Does not fit the olympic Ideals. taekwondo, In, Fits my olympic Ideal Thai Kick Boxing Most martial arts are shoeins for olympic sports as they http://ldots.org/my_olympics.html
Extractions: With the 2004 Olympics about to begin, I have been thinking about the large number of sports that make up the Olympics. There are too many sports, and a lot of them are stupid. For example, baseball and softball are Olympic sports, and synchronised swimming is ridiculed because it is an art-form rather than a sport. So I have decided to get rid of the stupid sports from the Olympics, and I have decided that removing all sports that do not conform to the Olympic Ideals swifter, stronger, higher is a good place to start. I use these ideals as the basis of removing sports and adding new sports to my Olympic games. Before I start removing sports from my Olympics, I can simplify the Ideals by removing higher , as it is really similar to swifter. I can now throw out all sports that do not fit the two Ieals. However, this does not leave us many sports, so I will keep all sports that can be used to kill people, so I will rewrite the Ideals to read swifter, stronger deadlier

Extractions: Equipment: Contestants wear a judogi, which is loose fitting pants and a jacket tied by a black belt. They compete on a mat that is 32.8 feet square. Rules: Bouts last five minutes for men and four for women. A match can be one by a single point, which may be scored if one contestant throws his or her opponent to the mat so that the opponent's back strikes the canvas. If the throw is executed with perfect form, a point is awarded, and the match is over. If the form is not perfect, half a point may be awarded; another half can be gained by holding the opponent on the mat 20 seconds. Thirty seconds of holding is worth a full point as well. If no point is scored in the time allotted, the match goes to the person who has either a half point or who has accumulated the most credit. Bronze medals are awarded to each semifinal loser.
