Let s find out what was so special about that person. When St. Patrick was born, his name actually was not Patrick but Maewyn. He grew up in Wales, but when he was 16, people kidnapped him and sold him into slavery in Ireland. Maewyn spent six years as a slave in Ireland, but then he escaped and went to Gaul in France where he studied in a monastery for 12 years. Finally, Maewyn became a bishop and adopted the Christian name Patricius (in English: Patrick). Furthermore, Patrick explained the holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) with the help of a shamrock, which grows everywhere in Ireland. The shamrock has three equally sized leaves and Patrick used this to show how the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit could exist as separate elements of the same entity. There are several legends about St. Patrick, for example that he banned all snakes from Ireland (still now there are no snakes in Ireland). People also say that Patrick met some Irish legends such as the

I'm so glad your here! I hope and pray you enjoy your visit with me. My pages are different for one very important reason, I am a Born again, Bible believing Commited Christian and because of that, this site will reflect my beliefs. Growing up, my father was so "into" this day. It was so important to him that we wear a "bit o the green" that day. Mom would cook special food and Dad even went so far as to buy us girls flowers to wear at school! He loved to whistle "Danny Boy" and anything Irish he could remember. I remember him having a tie that had shamrocks and would tease my mom for not wearing green herself. (she is French) and I think she enjoyed getting his goat so to speak in not wearing it!

Extractions: St. Patrick St. Patrick (ca. A.D. 385-461) was born in Scotland! He was the son of a high-ranking Roman family, but was carried off into slavery by Irish marauders when he was 16 and forced into shepherding. While in captivity in Ireland, though, he learned Celtic and the ways of Druidism, as his master was a Druid High Priest, two bits of knowledge that would help him later in evangelizing Irish pagans. He escaped his master, travelled about a bit but desired to return to Ireland to evangelize, a task he was entrusted with by Pope Celestine I, and a task he was most successful at (legend says that he even drove the snakes from that land with a sermon). Needless to say, St. Patrick is very dear to the Irish people, including - maybe especially Irish Americans. The symbol of this day is the shamrock because St. Patrick used the plant as a visual aid in describing the Trinity three leaves, one stem and the Cross, which is evoked by its general shape.

Extractions: deliverance from the demonic St. Patrick was born in 432 in Scotland. When he was quite young, he was taken into slavery and brought to Ireland (relocation). Slavery is evil. It is child-labor....it is separation from home and great heart break. It is when you are exploited by another to his advantage; and it is hard labor with no decent wages.....no economic way to break out of the slavery cycle. You become property , rather than a person. Ireland in the 5th Century was steeped in deep darkness and the occult. Mythology permeated every aspect of the people's lives. They were totally a pagan nation. They believed that the god of fire was to be reborn each Spring, by having their tribal king light the first fire of the year. From his fire alone, the people would kindle their own homes. But St. Patrick lit his own fire, and for this act he was brought before the king. To which St. Patrick replied, "Here am I" [Isaiah 6:8]. St. Patrick was bold in his beliefs. From that point on, St. Patrick was anointed and appointed by God to preach to this heathen nation. He lit the fire of the Gospel which has not been extinguished for approximately 1600 years.

St. Patrick's Day in Ireland St. Patrick Was Irish Not exactly. Although no one knows for certain where St. Patrick was born, based on his own account it was most likely in southwestern Britain. As a result, its fairly common to find various pundits gleefully commenting on the "irony" that Irelands patron saint was actually "English." The problem, of course, is that no one in the 5th century was what we would call "English." Rather, the people living in present-day England were Romanized Celts, or Britons. So Patrick is thus more accurately called a Celtic Briton, son of a low-level Roman official. St. Patrick Was the First Christian Missionary to Ireland
