Extractions: In December, Jamie and David arrived at the Grand Prix Final in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario with great expectations for the last international competition before the Winter Olympic Games. The talk of the media included speculation regarding which long program they would choose to skate at the Olympic Games: Orchid or Love Story. At the Grand Prix Final, Jamie and David would skate both programs because the event required two long programs. "'We're excited about Love Story, but we're also excited about Rachmaninov because it's taking our skating in a different direction,' Pelletier commented. 'Actually, it's a great problem to have, to have two good programs like this. We're so happy and excited that we have two great programs to choose from.'" In 1994, with her partner Jason Turner, Jamie Salé was the youngest member of the Canadian Olympic team in Lillehammer, Norway. The pair finished 12th in the event. The 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City were David Pelletier's first Olympic Games. “I've been telling myself that this is just like any other competition. But Jamie said, 'realize that it's not. It's the Olympics. It's not like any other competition you've done.'” Since their partnership in 1998, Jamie and David have been focused on the 2002 Olympic Games. As world champions, the pressure to win gold was intense. "'Many Canadians want us to win gold,' Pelletier said. 'We obviously would like to win gold. But when the competition is finished and everybody goes back home, if we don't win people will forget - but I won't. So the most important thing for Jamie and myself is to go home feeling at peace about what we've done here because we're going to have to live with the result.'"

Children's tales can be so sweet and simple, and the story of figure skater and coach Mabel Fairbanks begins no differently. During New York City's cold winter days, she watched other youngsters skating on a small pond not far from Central Park's Harlem end. It looked like such fun, gliding gleefully and gracefully across sheets of iceso much so that it prompted her to buy a pair of cheap tubular figure skates. Never mind that they were two sizes too big! Exactly when Fairbanks first put on skates isn't clearmaybe somewhere between 1925 and 1928but the struggle she had on that little pond reportedly prompted an onlooker to suggest a larger, smoother ice surface in Central Park. Fairbanks walked there in the skates, and by the end of that season, she had taught herself the essentials of figure skating.

Her birthplace was then know as Kristiania, Norway but is now known as Oslo, Norway. Henie began ice-skating at age six and soon began winning competitions in the sport. She was the first skater to ever wear a skirt that came above her knees with white skates which is a look that is very much in style even today. She began as an amateur skater but evolved into a trendsetter for all the great figure skaters who would follow her in this sport In addition to figure skating, Henie was also a ranked Norwegian tennis player after winning three championships in 1936, an excellent swimmer, an equestrienne, and a highly competent ballerina. She was the first woman ever to receive a medal from the Norwegian government for her versatility and achievement in sports. Henie placed second in an amateur automobile race held in Stockholm in 1932. Adam Sandler Biography Tiscali film brings you the most complete artist biographies and filmographieson the web. Mightily miffed, the older pair, Rhys Ifans and Tiny Lister, http://www.tiscali.co.uk/entertainment/film/biographies/adam_sandler_biog/8
Extractions: Back in the early Nineties, it was generally held that Saturday Night Live was finished. Having re-invigorated American comedy and spawned such cinematic stars as John and Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray, it was reckoned that the show had run out of steam, that it had become childish, crude and desperately un-funny. None of the current crop would cut it in the movies. Well, maybe Dana Carvey... Amazing, then, that Mike Myers should become one of the biggest film stars in the world. And more amazing still that Myers should be eclipsed by the crudest and most childish SNL comedian of them all. Come 2002, Adam Sandler had enjoyed a string of massive hits, breaking box-office records and shattering the magical $100 million mark several times. And, where Myers was pulling them in as Austin Powers, Sandler was doing it as Adam Sandler. His name had become a guarantee and, as such, he was being paid more even than the likes of Harrison Ford. He was born Adam Richard Sandler on the 9th of September, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, the third of four kids. His dad, Stanley, was an engineer, while his mother, Judy, was a homemaker, looking after Scott (now a lawyer), Elizabeth (a dentist), Adam and Valerie (a restauranteur). While Adam was still young, they moved north, to Manchester, New Hampshire.
