Global Road Safety Partnership A global partnership for sustainable improvement of road safety in developingand transition countries. http://www.grsproadsafety.org/
Extractions: With nearly 1 million persons killed and over 20 million injured in road accidents each year, road safety is an issue of immense human proportions.Over 75 percent of these casualties occur in developing and transition countries, though they account for only 32 percent of motor vehicles. These accidents will continue, and very likely increase as motorization increases, unless all stakeholders act together. Likewise, the global economic impact is huge economic losses caused by road accident amount to US$ 500 billion worldwide. For the countries in development and transition, their share of this economic loss is estimated to be close to 2% of GDP, nearly US$ 100 billion, i.e., nearly equivalent to double all overseas development assistance. These huge economic losses inhibit economic development and perpetuate poverty. Apart from releasing pressure on medical facilities, reductions in deaths and injuries will produce savings that can be spent on other aspects of health care, or can be invested to deliver better public services. The Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) aims to find more effective and innovative ways of dealing with road safety in developing and transition countries. Through a comprehensive approach to road safety, GRSP partners collaborate and coordinate road safety activities. This approach aims to build the capacities of local institutions and by enhancing the ability of professionals and communities to pro-actively tackle safety problems.

The purpose of the document is to establish with absolute clarity what are the responsibilities of the various constituents at the university and to ensure that these responsibilities are fulfilled. The Councils mission is to identify barriers and to suggest operational changes in the institution that will facilitate a strengthening of the graduate programs throughout the university. With this goal in mind, the Council found it necessary to identify and state explicitly the responsibilities of each and every entity at the university and further to identify where we are strong and where we fall short. This document is intended to be a discussion document for the university. Many of the responsibilities are deliberately pointed and will require serious reflection for they indicate changes which will improve the Tufts of today.
