The site also offers hints about getting started with the research for a paper and how to use (and find!) sources. Often, the Internet is a researcher's dream: A worldwide library at your fingertips, that you can access anytime, day or night, in your frumpiest clothes, without ever leaving your apartment or home. Time and again you can turn up just exactly what you were looking for: Information about geographical areas you'd like to move to, career fields, companies and the content of particular jobs, etc. But (you knew there was going to be a "but"), the outcome of your research on the Internet is always uncertain. It's fifty-fifty you will find the information you're looking for, and fifty-fifty you won't. Even if you search for hours.

Writing Process researching in the library; researching on the Internet; Interviewing others; Observing The process is simple Let the writer write! To do so http://ol.scc.spokane.edu/jstrever/tw/Resources/wprocess.htm
Extractions: Writing is a process, a series of activities that start the moment a person begins thinking about a subject and ends when the final draft is finished. Good writing is rewriting, making choices from considered alternatives. The steps in the writing process overlap, looping back and forth as each piece of writing evolves. Good writers have learned to let their thinkers think, their writers write, and their editors edit. The thinking, or as some call it the brainstorming, stage requires time. Here we must allow the thinker freedom as this is the discovery and invention stage. Limiting the thinker in any way gets in the way of great thoughts and ideas. Common brainstorming activities: For finding topics*: Once the topic has been found: **Of course these can at times be interchangeable.

A good query shows that you can write and that you are a professional - qualities that may result in an assignment even if the editor can't use your original proposal. Think of a query as your letter of introduction: if you make a good impression, you are likely to be invited back. If you make a bad impression, you may find that door forever closed." Do you think of the query as aftermath? The last, and least important part of producing and selling a piece of writing? Think again. In many instances, it is the query which will get you a writing job in the first place, and a good query or pitch can be the only difference between being a writer and being a published writer. Many markets prefer to see a query to a finished piece of work, and a whole non-fiction book contract can be won by query. Seriously experienced author Allen concentrates her entire book "The Writer's Guide to Queries, Pitches & Proposals" on the query, providing clear and specific guidelines on how to create a perfectly written query, pitch or proposal for a range of different writing areas.

Extractions: (National Geographic's WildCam Africa) Find lowest local gas prices ... Authors Guild Pat McNees is currently writing about the patients, the researchers, and the medical mysteries investigated in the NIH Clinical Center, better known at the National Institutes of Health as Building 10. Part research hospital, part ambulatory care center, Building 10 is the home base for clinical research (research involving human patients) of the various national institutes. Many scientists on NIH's Bethesda, MD, campus do basic research; Building 10 is where intramural researchers from the various institutes see patients. The addition this year of an upgraded hospital, the Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center, makes Building 10 the second largest federal building in the country, next to the Pentagon. It contains half the research beds in the United States and is the largest, most important biomedical research complex in the world. It is an invaluable resource for patients with rare diseases, or common diseases for which the NIH is developing and testing new treatments, and it is a key training center for clinical researchers all over the world. The most fascinating thing about the Clinical Center is the patients who go there, who increasingly find their way to the Clinical Center through the Internet and through patient advocacy groups and the groups that form to discuss how to deal with a particular disease. (Often their conditions are difficult to diagnose, and increasingly they help their doctors find a diagnosis.) Those patient stories are what Pat is researching and writing now.
