Extractions: The majority of schools have a special ?theme day? planned to happen once a month. Sometimes this special day is an activity that can be actioned on the school premises, but a few times a year you will be told you are going on ?field trip?. There does not seem to be a pattern to why certain places are selected at certain times and generally these trips are more about showing the school is kind and generous - schools will often "spoil" the children with attention and treats. During my time in Korea we went on some of the following field trips: Seoul Grand Park - This was fun going free on a lot of the activities but not all that fun holding on to little children about to fall out of the huge rocking Pirate Ship. The entry gate forgot to check if the bars actually held little kids! Korean Folk Museum in Seoul - This was a lovely day wandering around the amazing exhibitions and then eating lunch in a big circle on the floor in one of the exhibition halls. Seoul Racecourse - Believe it or not we did not see one racehorse, but there are a lot of picnic areas set up in the middle of the racetrack and even a little mini zoo/bird display. The kids enjoyed the little playground there and spent a lot of time rocking backwards and forwards on the ?play-horses.?
IslaMujeres.info - Isla Mujeres Trip Planning who will donate their time and their hearts to teach English at the school. La Gloria English school is located in the community known as La Gloria, http://lges.islamujeres.info/
Extractions: Have you ever wished you could give a little back to say thank you for all you have received from Isla Mujeres? Would you like a way to have more communication and connection with the people who live on Isla, from the fishermen to the homemakers and shopkeepers? Do you enjoy volunteering but are not sure how or what to do? Let me introduce you to La Gloria English School! The mission of the school is to give the residents of Isla Mujeres, with special focus on people living in La Gloria, the opportunity to learn English. The school opened in January of 2004, and is offering basic and intermediate classes in spoken English with emphasis on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. We are teaching adults, teens and children. We also have an on-site childrens library to encourage reading in both English and Spanish. The building was constructed with the private funds of Wisconsin residents Tom and Maggie Washa, who saw the need for English on Isla as the island changed from a fishing village to a tourist destination. Although the Mayan culture is romanticized, the Mayan people living on Isla are almost all at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. There was no affordable English school available to most Isla residents. The School itself is a non-profit, and at this time, the space, materials and teaching are all donated. Tuition is charged to the students, but at a rate they can afford, which is not enough to cover the schools start-up costs and expenses.

The tours were the British Isles and Italy and Greecethis was back in 1992 and l994. Our high school teacher led a tour every two years at that time. It was a mixture of students with a few adults along. We had a great time and EF staff asked if I was interested in leading groups because we obviously enjoyed it so much. Last summer was Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. It was 17 days and a custom tour. We always take custom tours and always have our favorite tour director Mark Davies help us plan it. He led two of our groups before he got a proper job, as his mother called it. He is extremely knowledgeable and still helps us fine tune our tours. Also, at our first convention, experienced tour directors helped us refine our tours with excellent suggestions.

Extractions: Virtual Field Trip Guidelines: Virtual Field Trips (VFTs) are one way the WWW is truly revolutionizing learning in the classroom. As someone who always has strived to provide meaningful experiences for my students, I love the VFT concept! Still, I have learned over time that VFTs require serious planning and consideration in order to make them a success. Keep in mind that they should be nicely couched within your existing curriculum. You have enough material to cover without adding additional lessons simply because they're novel! Also, remember that you are taking your class outside the four walls of your classroom, albeit via cyberspace, and you must provide just as much supervision and structure as you would on a traditional field trip. With these caveats said, here's a set of practical guidelines based on my own experiences for preparing, conducting and evaluating VFTs with your students: Do Select a trip which has a clear connection to what you are studying in class

STUDENT RESOURCES Some personal notes about this web page: It is designed as a resource for teachers K-12 who wish to find quality ready-made units and lessons for all subjects, or who wish to develop their own units. This page emphasizes engaged learning models such as WebQuests, Research Modules and Project-Based Learning, but links include other forms of lessons and tutorials. Included also are sites to help you build your own units as well as some examples of sources to help students do research. Some of these units depend on the ability of students to do interactive work with others using technology. However, even if you have one or no computer in your classroom, most of the units linked at this site can be of much help. They are great learning experiences not only because of technology, but because they also involve students in activities that challenge them to solve problems by doing quality research, analyzing information, synthesizing possibilities, making judgments and then creating interesting products in order to communicate their results. Technology can be used as tools in making these exciting learning experiences even deeper, richer and more motivating.

During the course of the game, they will watch their income and savings grow in the hope that when six weeks or trips around the game board are over, they will have enough money saved. The game records each weeks income and expenses. At the end of each week, the players balance is shown. During each week, the player may also choose to spend money, or incur unwanted expenses. Visit School Trip Trek Background information - Spending and saving income Often we have to postpone spending so that we can save sufficiently for a large purchase in the future. Adults usually plan how they will spend and save their income. Children need to be introduced to the idea that some purchases require more than one weeks income and so need to be saved for. Recording and tracking the receipt and spending of money are important components in knowing where you stand financially. The Learning Record keeping shows the player how much money they have at any given point in time. A plan or budget allows them to compare what they have against that plan, and figure out how much more they need to save for their school trip.
