It is meant to be a tutorial and an index to relevant web pages and documents. The BaBar graphics code is contained in several packages available within the BaBar software repository. The packages have been developing and will continue to develop. We will try to keep you as up-to-date as possible through this web page on changes in functionality. Feedback is welcome*. This tutorial is a quick but informed start on viewing event display graphics; it will provide enough information to help you do some advanced things if you so desire, without bogging down the beginner (we hope). Extractions: Like all other areas of the curriculum at Marlboro College, the culmination of the Physics and Astronomy program is the Plan an integrated course of study designed by the individual student under the guidance of one or more faculty sponsors. A Plan in physics might consist of anything from a systematic and rigorous survey of the science in preparation for continuing study in graduate school, to a cross-disciplinary study of some aspect of physics in relation to philosophy, mathematics, photography, etc. In short, there are no absolutely fixed requirements for studying physics and astronomy; the curriculum is designed to be flexible, targeted to the interests of each individual student. There are, however, some general guidelines intended to help students stay on track toward graduation. It is important to take the introductory sequence ( General Physics I and II ) and at least two intermediate-level courses ( Electricity and Magnetism and Modern Physics ) during the first two years. Courses in mathematics (including multi-variable calculus and, ideally, differential equations, linear algebra, and/or some other intermediate-level course) should also be taken. Typically a physics major will continue with upper-level courses (such as Quantum Mechanics Electrodynamics Astrophysics , and Statistical Mechanics ) during the junior and senior years, as well as developing his/her own Plan work with a combination of tutorials and independent research.
