Rozelle Elementary School Memphis, Tennessee. K6th grade. A creative and performing arts optional school. http://www.memphis-schools.k12.tn.us/schools/rozelle.es/rozelle.html
Extractions: General Information Rozelle Creative and Performing Arts Elementary School occupies a historic building in midtown Memphis that dates back to 1918. Beginning with the 1979-80 school year, Rozelle became a Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) Optional School for students in kindergarten and grades one through six. While the majority of the students live in the neighborhood, others are now attending on optional transfers. The 1982-83 school year brought special recognition to the school. At that time the historic building, with its Jacobean style of architecture, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In August of 1985, extensive renovation was begun on the building. This renovation was completed in the fall of 1986. Included in the facilities now are a movement education room, art room, conference room, science lab, computer lab, four additional classrooms on the first floor, and extended cafeteria facilities. The school-community relationship is strengthened by an active Parent-Teacher Association and School Leadership Team. This relationship is reinforced through the adoption of Rozelle School by First Tennessee Bank.
Extractions: Welcomes Dr. Walts The wee Dolphins at River Oaks Elementary School knew something was up this morning. Their teachers were more excited than usual. At a school where the energy level is always high, moving up an octane was a big deal. The reason: a celebrity visitor! When Schools Superintendent Steve Walts arrived in the front office, Karen Hammack, the bookkeeper, welcomed and greeted him with a River Oaks emblem. For many of the staff, this is the second time they have seen the new Superintendent, who began his tenure on July 1, 2005.
