Student And Class Projects Using The Internet The use of projects has been one of the most motivating teaching techniques I Investigate potential projects online. Select the project which best fits http://teacher.scholastic.com/professional/teachtech/usinginternet.htm
Extractions: One of the greatest benefits of using the Internet in the classroom is to provide educational opportunities for students based on their abilities and interests. For example, I can teach a basic lesson on a writing strategy and allow a student who is interested in and motivated by baseball to find examples of the writing strategy on a baseball-focused Web site. This lesson suddenly becomes more motivating, exciting, and memorable to this student. Brain research shows that individuals remember events and facts in more detail for a longer period of time if there are emotions involved in the initial learning experience. This concept of emotional memory is highly useful as we use the Internet in our classrooms. Due to the timeliness and currency of the Internet and the fact that students can find information that naturally interests them, the Internet can increase the emotional impact of lessons, and making learning interesting, fun, and meaningful to students. This seminar discusses the use of individual and class projects using the Internet to help students experience the joy of learning for themselves. As students gain experience learning for the pure joy of learning, their emotional interest, intrinsic motivation, and hunger for knowledge also increase.

STUDENT RESOURCES Some personal notes about this web page: It is designed as a resource for teachers K-12 who wish to find quality ready-made units and lessons for all subjects, or who wish to develop their own units. This page emphasizes engaged learning models such as WebQuests, Research Modules and Project-Based Learning, but links include other forms of lessons and tutorials. Included also are sites to help you build your own units as well as some examples of sources to help students do research. Some of these units depend on the ability of students to do interactive work with others using technology. However, even if you have one or no computer in your classroom, most of the units linked at this site can be of much help. They are great learning experiences not only because of technology, but because they also involve students in activities that challenge them to solve problems by doing quality research, analyzing information, synthesizing possibilities, making judgments and then creating interesting products in order to communicate their results. Technology can be used as tools in making these exciting learning experiences even deeper, richer and more motivating.

Instructional Strategies For Online Courses As faculty are beginning to teach online, learning is becoming more collaborative, online projects give students an opportunity to pursue their special http://www.ion.uillinois.edu/resources/tutorials/pedagogy/instructionalstrategie
Extractions: Effective online instruction depends on learning experiences appropriately designed and facilitated by knowledgeable educators. Because learners have different learning styles or a combination of styles, online educators should design activities that address their modes of learning in order to provide significant experiences for each class participant. In designing online courses, this can best be accomplished by utilizing multiple instructional strategies. Teaching models exist which apply to traditional higher education learning environments, and when designing courses for the online environment, these strategies should be adapted to the new environment. ONLINE COURSES AND MULTIPLE INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES Online learning environments permit a full range of interactive methodologies, and instructors have found that in adapting their courses to online models, they are paying more attention to the instructional design of their courses. As a result, the quality, quantity, and patterns of communication students practice during learning are improved. Of the many instructional strategies available for use in the online learning environment, most have not been developed specifically for online instruction, but are currently used in traditional classrooms, and can be successfully adapted for facilitating online learning. Educators should choose instructional strategies that are most effective for accomplishing a particular educational objective. From this perspective, instructional strategies are tools available to educators for designing and facilitate learning . Below are ten instructional strategies which have been effectively used in the traditional classroom and can likewise be used in the online learning environment:
Schools Online: Connecting The World... One School At A Time Schools online collaborative projects create and support partnerships Through this effort students utilized the power of the internet to help each other http://www.schoolsonline.org/whatwedo/cprojects.htm
Extractions: Stories Current ... Newsletters Schools Online collaborative projects create and support partnerships between people and institutions internationally, utilizing the power of the Internet to work together for the purpose of accomplishing a common objective. It is our hope that these experiences extend traditional classroom instruction. Schools Online understands that teachers must first develop their own capabilities to use technological tools for teaching and learning before transferring these skills to their students. In these featured collaborative projects, teachers' growth is fostered through technical skill building, professional development and project design. In many cases, the project objectives and activities are mapped to the curriculum that the teachers must teach. Through these and other projects, Schools Online aims to increase the attention to and understanding of using the Internet for project-based learning. It is our belief that this type of education will greatly expand students' horizons and strengthen their capacity to learn.
