Christos G. Angelopoulos Ph.D. student in oceanography studying in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Main interests are coastal sediment transport, hydrodynamics and geophysics. http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/cangelop/
Extractions: HOBI Labs offers a wide range of scientific-grade instruments for measuring water optical properties and the spectral light field. Our instruments are designed to operate in the harsh oceanic environment with reliability, accuracy and minimal maintenance. Basic and applied research in aquatic optics is a core activity of HOBI Labs. We also provide a variety of services to universities, naval laboratories and other institutions in the area of light and optics in the aquatic environment. Interested in optical backscattering, turbidity, suspended sediment concentrations? Take a look at our HydroScat line of spectral backscattering sensors. These instruments also measure chlorophyll and CDOM fluorescence! Interested in hyperspectral (full spectrum) measurements of plane (or scalar) irradiance and radiance? Browse our line of HydroRad radiometers. Do you need to control multiple instruments through a single serial connection and host computer? Autonomously operate and log data from a combination of serial and analog outputs? You'll be amazed at the power and versatility of our HydroDAS line of multi-instrument controllers and data loggers.

Research Operations A common thread of their various research interests is an emphasis on understanding fluid dynamics in the coastal environment, but the collective expertise of the group touches on a wide range of physical oceanographic phenomena. As a result, M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in the department gain a broad exposure to the essential subdisciplines of physical oceanography in addition to their in-depth research training.

Reliance on the information contained on this website is at the users own risk. Many organizations and individuals are concerned with sustained observations and/or products and services based on such observations from the estuaries and Exclusive Economic Zone of the Gulf of Mexico. A group of these entities have signed a resolution agreeing to form a Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS) beginning with the integration of existing observing system elements and the sharing of non-commercial and non-proprietary data and products. You are welcome to join the signatories to this resolution. General agreement has been reached on a GCOOS mission statement or vision. This regional system will be a part of the U.S. sustained and Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). An ongoing series of meetings and workshops are being held as part of the development of this Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System. Key meetings held to date have dealt with: an integrated data system for the Gulf of Mexico; the mission, initial building blocks, and tentative organization for GCOOS; the private sectors' perspective of and roles in the ocean observing system; a meeting planning for the GCOOS Education and Outreach Council; and adoption of a Governance structure for the GCOOS Regional Association and consideration of a draft business plan.
