But Johanns made it clear that it was he that was there to listen. "I come to these forums with an open mind," Johanns said. "This is really not my time, this is your time. I want to hear from you. I want to hear what's on your mind... and I'm going to listen." Jayme Fiesel, the current state FFA Southeast Region Vice President from Harvey, started the forum discussing just that. She said farm policy must be flexible enough to undergo change if certain situations require to do so. Fiesel also added that authority must be given to state and local governments so they can adapt to their regions. She gave an example that a nationwide farm policy that works in California may not be logical for North Dakota. "We also need to increase the support to expand farm management education programs," Fiesel continued. "These programs are highly beneficial to young, beginning farmers and ranchers because they assist young producers in establishing sound business management practices." She said if more support is given for these programs, young farmers and ranchers will have a better chance to succeed in the business of agriculture.

Extractions: MINOT, N.D. - Tamie Bernhardt has never enjoyed being "in the spotlight," but there she was, right in the middle of it, as she was selected the 2005 Farm & Ranch Guide Country Woman of the Year. She was selected during a special luncheon program during Country Woman Day at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot on July 29. "I was very surprised and overwhelmed to be chosen from among all the wonderful finalists," Tamie said after being named Country Woman of the Year. "They're awesome. All six are winners. They are wonderful people and all deserved it." "She can do it all," Amber wrote in nominating her mother for the award. Besides handling the "traditional" duties of a farm wife - cooking, cleaning, and caring for her children - Tamie is also equally comfortable behind the wheel of a tractor or combine, or handling cattle or doing the bookkeeping for the farm operation. "She deserves this," Amber said upon hearing her mother's name called as this year's winner. "She always gives 110 percent. She never wants to be in the spotlight - but she's deserved this for a long, long time. She's always there for us. She's the mom all my friends envy." Her husband, Tom, simply called her "unbelievable."

A blue light called Cherenkov light is emitted along the muon's kilometer-long trajectory and is detected by strings of photomultiplier tubes deployed deep below the surface. Science magazine noted in September that IceCube was approved by the National Science Board. Board approval does not guarantee funding but indicates the scientific value of a project. On November 6, Wisconsin Public Radio broke the news, noting that the approved amount was 1/10th what was needed to complete the project. In the November 7 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

North Dakota History uses endnotes, with numbered references in the text, and puts the notes at the end, by number, in endnotes. Bibliographies do not accompany the articles in this journal, just endnotes. This is described as the documentary-note or humanities style in the Chicago Manual of Style . For more information, other than from examining journal issues, please consult Chicago Manual of Style th ed. (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1993), especially chap. 15. Each citation here is emblematic of types of endnotes and types of decisions that authors and editors make in finalizing endnote contents and trying to make it possible for the interested reader or researcher to find the references again to consult: that is the end goal of endnotes.
