Site Map By Mark Salvo and Andy Kerr Permit Retirement Generally Prohibited Permit Retirement Examples Argue for Federal Program The following examples represent a variety of purposes for permit retirement and the numerous agencies and private parties that have been involved. The price per acre or animal unit month (AUM) has varied depending on the location, the payor, and other circumstances. Retiring the permit was voluntary in every case, and respect and cooperation between the permittee, government agencies, conservationists, and legislators was the key to completing each transaction. Where available, permit retirement has been very successful, supporting conservationists' proposal for a much broader, federally financed program.

My Master Gardener Page Los Angeles Master Gardeners , Univ. of Calif. coop. ext. new mexico State University extension service answers the question Who are the Master http://www.hal-pc.org/~trobb/mastgar.html
Extractions: You are visitor A separate and distinct area of gardening is that of the Master Gardener - the voluntary arm of the Agricultural Extension Services. As a Past President and member of the Harris County Master Gardener Association (Houston, Texas), I am more familiar with the Texas Master Gardener program but Master Gardening is nationwide in scope and on this page I will be attempting to put it all together. I am often asked the question, "Who and what are 'Master Gardeners'"? The following comments, questions and answers are geared primarily to the Texas Master Gardener Program. However, with slight differences, they also apply to all 50 states since all now have "Master Gardener Programs". They also generally apply in the four Canadian provinces with the program except for the sponsorship of Cooperative Extension agencies. Master Gardeners are members of the local community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens. They are enthusiastic, willing to learn and to help others, and able to communicate with diverse groups of people. What really sets Master Gardeners apart from other home gardeners is their special training in horticulture. In exchange for their training, persons who become Master Gardeners contribute time as volunteers, working through their cooperative Extension office to provide horticulture-related information to their communities.

Extractions: University of Wyoming Source: Adapted from Tourism USA, Guidelines for Tourism Development , The University of Missouri, Department of Recreation and Park Administration, University Extension, revised and expanded 1986, pp 56-57. The money tourists spend in a community is the benefit which people probably recognize most readily. Other benefits might include improved recreation facilities, expanded cultural and social opportunities, and pride in one's community, but additional dollars provide the usual appeal for tourism development. These dollars benefit sectors throughout the community, including those not directly connected to tourism, such as the construction industry. Communities contemplating development to encourage tourism can estimate the amount of money visitors will spend in their area. These estimates are useful in several ways. To indicate the value of tourism to a larger region.
