Our Middle and High School is across the street from us and there is a city named Laconia nearby. We live in a rural area with many mountains and woods around us. The total area of Gilford is 50.9 square miles, 38.3 square miles of land and 12.6 miles of water. There is about 12 miles of shoreline on Lake Winnipesaukee. The permanent population is around 7,000. The seasonal population is 12,000 +/-. We live in a region that has all four seasons. It's warm in the summer and cold in the winter. The average summer temperatures are in the 80's. The winter temperatures are usually in the 20's with much snow. The wind is strong in the fall. The springs in Gilford are cool and windy with lots of mud. We love the spring because it's Maple Syrup time.
