USGS Forest And Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center: Cascadia Field Station Provides research, publications, geospatial data, news and information. Studies the biological and social aspects of resource management issues in national parks and other protected areas on public lands throughout the Northwest and beyond. Located at the University of Washington http://fresc.usgs.gov/cascadia/
Extractions: Cascadia Field Station The Cascadia Field Station is one of three major research facilities of the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center. The field station, known formerly as the University of Washington Field Station, the Cooperative Park Studies Unit, and the Field Station for Protected Area Research, was established in 1970 as the first university-based research unit of the National Park Service. The location of the station was then, and continues today to be, the College of Forest Resources at the University of Washington in Seattle. In 1996, the field station was transferred administratively to the Biological Resources Division of the USGS. This is its current affiliation. Cascadia Field Station scientists traditionally have studied the ecological and social aspects of resource management issues in national parks and other protected areas on public lands in the Pacific Northwest Region of the United States and beyond. The station has directed several long-term studies and assisted federal agencies with scientific issues of immediate concern to resource management. Many research efforts involved cooperation with other agencies and institutions. The two major program areas of the field station have been ecology and social science. Geospatial technology has been used in many of the station's projects.
Gay News From 365Gay.com Gays Banned From national parks Civil Service Group Says Last July, Murphy ordered the Grand Canyon national Park to return three bronze plaques bearing http://www.365gay.com/newscontent/122303natParks.htm
Extractions: (Washington, D.C.) All images of gay gatherings at national sites, including the Millennium March on the Washington Mall have been ordered removed from videotapes that have been shown at the Lincoln Memorial since 1995 according to a civil service group. Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) says that the directive came from National Parks Service Deputy Director Donald Murphy. Murphy is said to have been concerned about pictures in the video that showed same-sex couples kissing and holding hands after conservative groups complained. The Millennium March held in 2000 to bring attention to LGBT civil rights issues drew tens of thousands of gays and their supporters to the mall for one of the biggest demonstrations since the civil rights and anti-war marches of the 1960s.

Extractions: I was always curious about Sequoia. It seems paled by its nearby neighbor- Yosemite and is often a forgotten less visited place. While this is a National Park, and speeds are low, the ride itself is just amazing. Despite being inundated with campers, kids, and cars- all of which seem to be impeding your two wheeled progress, I promise this will be an experience you will remember for years to come. There are some good sequences of curves as any mountain road will have- the pic at right for example- if you can squeeze in-between the traffic, it will enhance the experience of this amazing combo of National Parks side by side. The reason why you should come here regardless of your riding style is merely to see the oldest living trees in the world and ride down into a canyon even deeper than the Grand Canyon. They don't make places like this into National Parks for any old reason. The sequoia groves will generate an incredible sense of awe. And of smallness.
