Children with a diagnosed physical or mental condition associated with developmental disability or resulting in a developmental delay or disability are also eligible for early intervention services. A developmental disability is a long-term condition that significantly delays or limits mental or physical development and substantially interferes with such life activities as self care, communication, learning, decision making, capacity for independent living, and mobility. It usually is diagnosed before a person reaches age 22. Income eligibility varies by services provided. Regional centers provide assessment and case management services.
