This plan is for all library staff to develop the skills needed to become members of teams and to improve the way the Libraries operate as an organization. The Learning Curriculum is unusual and innovative in its comprehensiveness and ongoing nature. It has ten components, which in turn include a number of modules, for a total of approximately 150 contact hours. Concepts included in the Learning Curriculum encompass: Development of the Organization, Defining Customer Service, Development of Self, Teams and Workgroups, Exploring Leadership and Followership, and Leadership Development. It is one of only three "coherent curricula" currently existing in research libraries nationwide, as identified by the Association of Research Libraries' Leadership Committee. The other curricula are found at the University of Minnesota Libraries and the University of Tennessee Libraries.

JITE Volume 34, Number 4 - David J. Pucel University of minnesota, Stephan Flister University of minnesota In order tostaff these industrial education programs as they expanded over the years, http://scholar.lib.vt.edu/ejournals/JITE/v34n4/html/pucel.html
Extractions: University of Minnesota The literature is clear that the context and nature of industrial education programs within higher education have changed dramatically during the recent past. Householder (1993), in reviewing technology education teacher education programs, indicated "there is no effective model or widely accepted paradigm for contemporary technology teacher education" (p. 17). Householder (1992) also studied changes occurring in the preparation of industrial arts and technology education teachers. He reported, "By every indication, the number of graduates in technology teacher education continues to decline. The number of students in the programs continues to decline even more precipitously..." (p. 17). He also reported that the number of institutions preparing such teachers was continuing to decline. One of the most comprehensive reviews of the status of teacher education that might inform industrial educators of current trends within industrial education and vocational education was reported by Lynch (1996). Although that report was focused primarily on vocational teacher education, one portion pertained directly to industrial education. Data revealed that all areas of vocational education have been undergoing significant change and decline.

Fall 1997 Department Newsletter Harry Freeman (Ph.D Dec 96 Hum dev) has accepted a position at Univ of SD, The Department of Educational Psychology presents its Fall 1997 Colloquium http://www.soemadison.wisc.edu/edpsych/news/fall2.htm
Extractions: AT THE SCENE Little did we know when we were creating the Ed Psych newsletter, that we would need an interior design editor, but since the newsletter IS entitled Ed Ps tings, we feel compelled to describe some new views, with editorial commentary. Some of you noticed large sample books of fabric swatches lying about in the 880 area of Ed. Sci. At other times members of the staff could be seen pouring over paint samples, deep in serious discussion. Consensus is often extremely hard to reach, but add budget constraints to an already long list of considerations, and the challenge of designing a new look for heavily used and long unaltered areas of the 8th floor becomes awesome! Ed Psychs current Chair, Brad Brown, threw down the gauntlet before Sharon Brown and said something like, "Go forth and fix up this hell-hole!"
