Decisions about supplemental N fertilizer are further complicated when stand loss or plant stunting reduce the overall yield potential of a flood- or ponding-damaged field. Fields that eventually exhibit obvious N deficiency symptoms prior to pollination may benefit from a supplemental application of 30 to 50 lbs. of fertilizer N.
