Girls' High School Hockey In The USA Girls high school hockey is growing by leaps bounds in minnesota. It is a private boarding school and we have our own new indoor rink. http://www.whockey.com/highschool/usa/
Extractions: "In 1994, Minnesota became the first state to sanction girls' ice hockey as a high school varsity sport, and 24 schools took part that first year. That number grew to 47 last season and 63 schools have registered to field a team next year. There's also legislation in Minnesota that would mandate 50 percent of available ice time would go to girls' and women's teams." As of the 1996-97 season, Minnesota remains the only state to offer girls interscholastic hockey. The number of teams has grown from 24 to 83. Princeton High School is the only girl's public school team in New Jersey. The team has steadily improved and plays a 6-8 game schedule. The prep school teams play more games than the public school team.
