Pataki today announced that the United States Army has designated the planned New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center as an "Official US Army National Guard Museum." The official certification means that the new museum which will be located in Saratoga Springs will be eligible for a wide array of financial and technical support from the federal government. "This official designation is terrific news that will provide a tremendous boost to our efforts to establish our new military museum in Saratoga," Governor Pataki said. "As a result of this federal certification, we will now have broad access to federal funding, resources, materials and training that will help us achieve our goal of establishing one of the finest military museums in the nation. "We welcome the support of the Army and consider this designation as a clear signal that Washington appreciates all of the hard work we've done since 1995 to reclaim, secure and preserve New York's priceless military history collection."
