They use games, music, art, films, computers, and other tools to teach children basic skills. When children learn, they feel good and will do well in school later on. When they grow up and go to work and become parents, they will do a good job because of what they learned when they were young. Most kindergarten and elementary school teachers teach several subjects to one class of children. In some schools, two or more teachers work as a team. They teach a group of students at least one subject. In other schools, a teacher may teach one special subject to a number of classes. Usually they teach music, art, reading, science, math, or gym. Some teach classes of students from different grades. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers may write with chalk on a chalkboard or with markers on a dry-erase board. They also may use videos, slides, overhead projectors, or computers. All these things help children learn in different ways. With computers, children can talk with students in other countries. Computers also help students solve math problems. Sometimes they help children learn to speak English better. Many teachers use computers to record the children's grades. Teachers have to keep learning to make sure that they know how to use computers and other machines in their classes.

Extractions: Home of Easy Teaching with a Concept! Clip from Radio Show w/Donna Seebo Read what Sally R. from Georgia says: Kudos to Gisela Hausmann for her new approach to teaching numbers and mathematics to young children! The “Hands on Mathematics” program is basic and concrete for use with very young and special needs children, and the philosophy of this introductory mathematics works well as the students transition to adding and subtracting in the base 10 system. In addition, the program includes numerous enrichment suggestions as extension activities for higher level thinking for children as they begin to understand numbers. For instance, the concept of symmetry is introduced as the number two is taught, the recycling symbol is used in the suggested lesson plan for teaching the concept of three, and a six-pack is used to visualize the concept of division. This program would work well in an interrelated preschool curriculum, as so many suggested activities involve science and social studies concepts as well. This program was developed by a parent for parents, as there is much use and discussion of everyday items for the teaching of mathematics. The concept of children learning to group by quantity instead of counting keeps children engaged in the fun of recognizing mathematical relationships among groups. Finally, someone has found a way to make learning mathematics fun!
