Extractions: In magic squares, each row and each column and each diagonal adds up to the same number. But look at the green markings at the top of this page! This special magic square adds up to the same number in all of these ways. (Don't take our word for it! Use your mental math and see for yourself!) It is called a "pan-magic square." We didn't invent this magic square. A famous German artist, Albrecht Dürer, included it in an engraving called "Melancholia" in the year 1514! The most magic thing of all is that you can see the year "1514" in the middle of the bottom row.

Solving the math problems may require simple arithmetic, algebraic, geometric, or statistical calculation, but one worksheet will typically present multiple variations of a single type of problem, so that students get practice with one particular mathematical operation or principle. The math worksheets at abcteach are organized into age-appropriate levels, covering topics from basic math concepts through geometry. A solution page is provided with every worksheet, no matter how simple or hard it is. Here is a list of samples: In the directory below, you will find many free math worksheets you can print and use however you like! Adobe Acrobat is required to view and print our math worksheets.

Here is a table of problems from the USA, International and Asian Pacific Mathematical Olympiads, and the USA Team Selection Test in various formats. For more information about these contests, see below This archive is restricted to the most recent examinations. The older exams appear in several books published by the Mathematical Association of America ; check there for more information. What are all these formats, anyway? If you don't know what the acronyms mean, you probably want to make sure that you have installed Adobe Acrobat as either a "plug-in" or a "helper". Then click on the PDF buttons. If you do know what the acronyms mean, Postscript is likely the most useful format. One readily available viewer for such files is GhostScript If you're stuck with a text-based system, you might try reading the TeX files, which are ASCII files with various special characters used to indicate formatting and mathematical symbols. If you insist on trying to process the TeX or DVI files, you'll probably want to consult the FAQ of the newsgroup comp.text.tex

Money | Math Lesson Ideas Features activities and games to help young children learn place value. http://www.teachnet.com/lesson/math/matmon.html
Extractions: Place Value Made Fun We read how one of Calvin Klein poster boys makes a seven-figure income just for having the right face. Quick! Do your fifth graders know what minimum amount he makes? Obviously, place value is an important skill in number manipulation, say, for counting your OWN money, let alone someone else's. These following games and exercises can help you reinforce place value skills in a fun way. Thanks to contributors Brian Carey [ZGMB56A@prodigy.com], Kim [kbeyer@rmi.net], Jacqueline [ia435@worldchat.com] and Michael Sobol [mjs@clearnet.net] Start by having students in groups of two or three roll three dice. Using the numbers they rolled, have them make as many three digit numbers as they can. Have the students tell the places of the numbers as they write them on the board. You can ask the students if the 5 (for example) is worth more in this number or this number. Add a dice a day until they get to the1 millions place (7 dice). Keep your dice around for the next game, too. Pairs of students each make four columns on a sheet of paper or chalkboard, labeled "thousands" "hundreds" "tens" and "ones". Then they take turns rolling one die. After each roll, both students must place the number in one of their columns. After four rolls, compare the resulting four-digit numbers. The high (or low) number winner receives one point, and play continues to a predetermined number. If both students get the same number, no points are given, and as they become more familiar with the concept, add more columns for larger numbers (and less chances for ties).
