July 15, 2004 - Transition Team Meeting State Legislator; Louise Kirkland, Umaine Coop ext Services; Lisa Callender, Penquis Cap; Machias Savings Bank, Lincoln maine Federal Credit Union, http://www.llrdc.org/id99.html
Extractions: Home Commercial Properties Available Pine Tree Zones BUSINESS DIRECTORY ... Links Lincoln Lakes Region Development Corporation July 15, 2004 - Transition Team meeting Transition Team meets one last time Topics on the agenda included an update from Gary Stevens at TDC for the training and employment status of the original 466 Lincoln Eastern Fine workers. The statistics are as follows as of July 8, 2004: 17 of those are from the Brewer Mill employees; 29 in school and training programs; 34 retired; 1 military leave with the position being retained and 26 on to other jobs. That would leave approximately 74 individuals that never applied for any benefits or training through either the Career Center or TDC. Those individuals may have immediately acquired another job or relocated to another area to acquire another job or as I know in some cases, went into business for themselves. In closing, the newly printed Eastern Resource Guides were distributed and everyone agreed to keep in touch for networking purposes. Overall, the Transition Team felt that as a close-knit, networking unit we were able to assist in a much greater way than everyone working on their own would have been able to. This process gave the workers the best information in the fastest way possible for them to get their lives back on track in the fastest amount of time that we could manage. No program or endeavor is ever perfect and there were challenges, but at the end of the day I think we can all stand proud to say we were part of that team. As Team Leader, I would like to personally thank all of you for your dedication and commitment to the task at hand.

Background For McIntosh Bud Stage Predictions Phillip G. Schwallier, Michigan State University coop. ext.; and G. DeBruin, Reister s Grower Services, MI. Having an early season biofix corrects for http://pronewengland.org/content/allmodels/BudStageBackground.htm
Extractions: and G DeBruin, Reister's Grower Services, MI. Having an early season biofix corrects for latitudinal shift in correlation between pest lifestage and cumulative degree days (DD). Experience with DD values for Geneva NY apple pest observations found that early season events in Maine occur at a lower DD accumulation. But experience has also found that DD - observable event correlations are accurate when the DD value reset with an early season calibration starting point such as McIntosh Green tip. Doing this eliminates the error that accumulates prior to Green tip, and from that point on, DD correlations developed at Geneva New York work for New England. The definitions of the apple bud stage dates are all for McIntosh on typical rootstocks (M7, M26 etc.)

Extractions: March 2005 The short answer is, "probably not." Each state is different, so proper advice is needed from a specialist in each state. Some states allow sales at farmer's markets of select foods; others prohibit sales altogether. The National Center for Home Food Preservation does NOT provide guidelines to home food preservers who wish to take the next step from home food preservation to commercial food preservation. Home food preservation is not regulated; however, food preservation and processing for commercial purposes is regulated. There are federal level regulations from the U.S. FDA (also USDA for meat and poultry products), state level regulations, and often county or city regulations.
