SALALM Latin American Information Series - No. 7 South American Cinema Dictionary of film Makers. Trans. International Guideto literature on film. London BowkerSaur, 1994. 388 p. http://www.libs.uga.edu/lais/laisno7.html
Extractions: Introduction After some preliminary discussions, the Latin American Studies Group at Brigham Young Universitys Library initiated a Latin American film series during the winter semester of 1999. The objective of showing these films was to increase the exposure of films made in Latin America to both faculty and students and also to magnify the Librarys role as a useful resource, not only for its holdings, but also for its services. It was decided to begin the series with four films from Argentina, with plans to showcase other Latin American countries in future semesters. This bibliography was originally compiled as a part of the film series, with the goal being to offer a current list of materials on Latin American film housed in the Harold B. Lee Library of Brigham Young University. Thus, this bibliography is of necessity selective in nature. In order to be useful to a larger audience, the scope was broadened to include three additional countries Haiti, Peru, and Uruguay.

Extractions: English 102: Literature, Film and Society This Subject Guide will help you to find information in your subject area. Essay Assignment and Recommended Readings Read the information about essay writing in the Study Guide to the unit. Note that the essay questions ask you to demonstrate detailed knowledge of the relevant texts: the first things you should do in approaching this assignment is to read, and reread the texts, or view the films. (If you have difficulty getting hold of a copy of the film, please note that the School of English, Communication and Theatre will be screening all set films for the unit during the residential school; films are also available on video or DVD for viewing in the school. You can make an appointment for viewing with the School's Administrative Assistant.) There is no substitute for detailed knowledge of the texts set for study in this course. Secondary reading should be considered just that: you should read it in the context of adding to your knowledge about ways that the texts can be analysed or understood.
