Astronomy Tells about each of the planets in our solar system and the sun. http://www.astronomy.com/asy/default.aspx?c=a&id=1091
Astronomy For Kids Includes information and two pictures related to this topic. http://www.frontiernet.net/~kidpower/asteroid.html
Extractions: An asteroid is a large rock in outer space. Some, like Ceres, can be very large, while others are as small as a grain of sand. Due to their smaller size, asteroids do not have enough gravity to pull themselves into the shape of a ball. Astronomers group asteroids into different categories based on the way they reflect sunlight. The asteroid belt is divided into an inner belt and an outer belt. The inner belt which is made up of asteroids that are within 250 million miles of the Sun contains asteroids that are made of metals. The outer belt, which includes asteroids 250 million miles beyond the Sun, consists of rocky asteroids. These asteroids appear darker than the asteroids of the inner belt, and are rich in carbon.
Astronomy For Kids Contains an image and facts related to the planet. http://www.frontiernet.net/~kidpower/jupiter.html
Astronomy For Kids Jupiter Provides details about its location, its visibility from Earth as well as data related to its size and its moons. http://www.dustbunny.com/afk/planets/jupiter/
Extractions: The fifth planet in our solar system is also the largest planet in our system, both in size and mass. Jupiter's diameter of over 85,000 miles is almost twelve times that of Earth and its mass is well over twice as much as all the rest of the planets put together. These facts make it appropriate that the planet is named after the king of all the other gods in ancient Roman mythology Jupiter is also the first of the gas planets in our system. A gas planet is one that does not have a solid surface like Earth. Instead, you can think of Jupiter, as well as the rest of the gas planets, as being a giant ball of mostly hydrogen and helium. Scientists believe that Jupiter has a small rocky core at its center, but even the core of this giant planet is much larger than our Earth.
