Extractions: The school staff members carry out the intervention plan and collect data on how the plan is impacting the student's progress. The team may determine to continue with the intervention plan for an indefinite time period. It is suggested the school team review annually to see if the plan is still required and is being effective. The school team may find a need for further evaluation in order to determine if special education services are required and will refer the case on to special services. If the team does refer the student for an initial evaluation for special education services, the parents are invited to a meeting at the school. The school team develops an assessment plan with the parent and asks for parent consent for conducting the evaluation. At this meeting parents are given an approximate timeline for completing the evaluation, but it is typically completed within 60 school days. Parents are invited to a follow-up meeting when the assessment process is complete and the results of all evaluations are reviewed and the parents receive a written report. If the team determines a student is eligible and has need for special education an Individual Special Education Program plan (IEP) is written and the parents will receive a copy of it as well. At this point parents are asked to give written consent before special education services begin.

This program was a critical piece of the HLC/NCA success. North Central evaluators have told PCC that over 80% of their institutional evaluations get citations on this issue alone. PCC has received high praise as a model program. Congratulations to FALC and Chair Westerhaus and to all faculty who are using the assessment system in their programs and classes. *National program accreditations (Automotive Technology, Business and Nursing)
