In most cases these are not absolutely required, but are included to help applicants decide which internship may be right for him or her. The internship will include skills training, but applicants may want to intern in an area where they already have a head start. Novice Internships Advanced Internships Animal Rights Internships Rainforest Relief Internships ... Novice Internships Novice internships are entry-level positions for people new to social change work or who can only commit a very limited amount of time. Rather than focusing on a specific project or campaign, novice interns work on a variety of projects as the need arises, in order the expose the intern to a wide range of projects and tasks. For applicants who are unsure of which project they wish to pursue this is an excellent starting point. Over time, interns involved in the novice program may progress into other positions. Advanced Internships Media Internship For years, Wetlands has brought environmental, human rights and animal rights issues into the news in New York City, the world's most vast and competitive media market. We are now making available an opportunity for intensely committed people to learn the skills that have made this possible from experienced Wetlands media activists.

Navigation By Justine McCabe Meanwhile, the original injustice is submerged in a bureaucratic system organized to disavow it: even applying for BIA recognition costs millions, encouraging many tribes to resort to casino investors despite their corruption of traditional native values. Indian participation (let alone success) in this admittedly suspect process arouses only insecurity and hostility among my non-Indian Kent neighbors. Tellingly, references to original dispossession and the enduring traumatic impact of European contact are circumvented. Expressions of collective responsibility or apologies are absent. As Attorney General Blumenthal began challenging Schaghticoke recognition, then-Palestinian presidential candidate Mahmoud Abbas was visiting some of the 400,000 Palestinian refugees in camps in Lebanon, reassuring them that their right to return to their homes in what is now Israel would not be abandoned in future negotiations.

Extractions: Select Bibliography T his section is intended to be a brief guide for students conducting research in law and policy that relates to Traditional Knowledge. Traditional Knowledge is a broad term that encompasses creative expression, information and know-how that is particular to a discrete and identifiable social unit. In many ways, this encapsulates various types of knowledge that are not usually considered knowledge, (as the term is generally used in everyday English). Discrete social units will also often have an immensely close relationship with their immediate environment and ecosystems. This particular type of knowledge is referred to as Traditional Environmental Knowledge. Traditional knowledge is a subject area that is becoming increasingly important and has generated a great deal of interest in recent years. It affects innovation law and policy on many fronts, such as agricultural development, biological diversity, and intellectual property. The misappropriation of traditional knowledge has been the recent focus of heated debate, particularly within the context of international trade. Accordingly, much of the discourse in this subject area is taking place in various international organizations, such as the UNDP, UNESCO, and the World Bank.
