In addition, it offers a major in school media services, a minor in library/media services, and an endorsement in computer literacy. The prospective all grade or senior high-junior high/middle school teacher is advised by an instructor in his or her major teaching field. At the time the student is admitted to the Teacher Education Program, he or she is considered a joint registrant in the School of Education and the college or school of the major department; however, all administrative actions in regard to the baccalaureate degree program will rest with the college or school in which the teaching major is located. (See School of Education Procedures and Regulations for Students.) The Teacher Education Program at Indiana State University has been approved by the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Extractions: Rich Schneider, 317-278-4564 rcschnei@iupui.edu INDIANAPOLIS Full-time school library media specialists play an important role in the access to electronic resources and student achievement in language arts as measured through the ISTEP exams. Both the number of full-time library media specialists and the quality of print resources in Indiana high school libraries are declining, according to findings released at the fall state conference of the Association for Indiana Media Educators. The gathering of 555 library media specialists was held at the Indianapolis Convention Center November 15th-16th. Three statewide surveys were conducted through Indiana University in 2003 and 2004. Data were gathered through the IU Public Opinion Laboratory at Indianapolis and data analysis was conducted through the IU School of Library and Information Science at IUPUI. Over 500 public schools reported information on the status of staff, services and library collections. There seems to be a growing gap between Indiana elementary schools in which a full-time, certified school library media is employed as a team-educator with other teachers
